Adventures never seem to end for Raymond Sheldon and me! Our current project is no exception. In the last few years so many people have messaged asking for information, or his opinion, on things that captains or shipping companies have done, and decisions others have made. Of course Ray has ALL the answers, why wouldn't he?
We have saved of all the questions and comments and in looking at them we thought, "wow, we have something here." On our drives back and forth from Escanaba to Hudson we came up with an idea! It's pretty exciting! Ray and I compiled the best comments and questions and we are about to publish our first (we hope of many) books.
This is where all of you come in.
We are sharing the cover and the table of contents and now we need a title for the book. A Captain friend agreed to do a foreward, and we have tons of photos, we just need the darn title. The person contributing the best title will get an autographed copy and a weekend at our place in Ontonagon as soon as we finish the pilot house cabin. 😉
MAKE SURE YOU READ ALL THE CHAPTERS SO YOU COME UP WITH A GREAT TITLE.
Let's see what you've got.

This morning I was getting a little stressed about the ominous task of packing and moving. I forgot the fact that I have done it multiple times across several states and completed many local moves as well. Glitches happened, but with few exceptions, if you'd ask me what those glitches were today I couldn't tell you. I know I worried a lot as move dates approached, but they happened and I'm still here. This move will eventually be the same, a distant memory.
It's really like that for all uncomfortable things that consume our minds.
If we look back and really dig into the majority of what gave us discomfort, stress, and even fear in the past, most things are faded memories, if memories at all. So many worries that consumed us for an hour, a day, a week or a month were beyond our control and most never even happened. When we stop and think, IF those worries came to fruition, most worked for a beautiful purpose or at worst we survived. Now we've moved on to the triviality of today, but we wasted precious time on things that were unlikely to happen, and were always in His hands. Isn't it funny that we continue to do that, forgetting those past lessons? It takes experience (good and bad,) practice, and work to build that wisdom.
We have the power within our own minds, free will, to decide if we are going to trust or fear. It takes discipline to put our Faith in Him, rather than the latest news headline, the voices that replay things that we read on our devices, or the opinion of some trending influencer telling us how to fix x, y or z in our lives. It takes practice to remember that His Promises from His Word are more powerful than any other thing we will hear today.
Join me today in being thankful for all experiences and in praying for faith and wisdom to remember that worry is futile.
Now, where are the packing bubbles? Do I really need to move this or that? How many boxes of rocks can I take? 🤣🥰

After searching for 3 years (thank your for your patience Hilary Collins Kostichka ;) Raymond Sheldon and I found our perfect retirement home in Hudson Wisconsin! It has everything we need to live on one floor, but plenty of room for friends and family in a lower level. We can't wait to make it our own and hang photos, charts, portholes, nautical art, oars and ships wheels. We'll remain Michigan residents for a while as we travel back and forth to liquidate "stuff" real estate, but eventually we will be all Wisconsin. We're 35 minutes from my favorite 4 year old and 30 minutes from the MSP airport. Here's to exploring Wisconsin and Minnesota, concerts, dance lessons, Toastmasters in person, plays, shopping and country living with Twin Cities activities.

I loved the wonder in Reece's adorable little face when I showed him how Jack Frost had painted the windows on Saturday night. Oh little boy, I hope you continue to look at the world with such innocent eyes. I hope you find joy in frosty windows and snowy days. I hope I am around for 50 years to share the moments with you. I pray that I get to share the same wonders with your child some cold winter day.

Fans Of MV Joseph L. Block, here she is coming in for layup at Fincantieri Bay Ship in Sturgeon Bay. Great perspectives from Captain John Olson in the pilot house and Zachary Grovogel of Great Lakes Towing & Shipyard on the Tug.
The great crew of our favorite ship getting well deserved winter rest and rejuvenation.
