As the President of his sons Hueytown Youth Baseball League, and not being able to purchase awards for the teams locally and receive on time, Leon's solution was to buy his own machine and make the awards himself. By 1986, Leon Amerson had retired from his engineering position at U.S.S. and began to build Amerson Engraving, a family owned business, one customer at a time. Over the years, Leon expa
nded the services of Amerson Engraving and his son, Parnell, began working at the family business alongside his Dad. At the time of Parnell's passing in December 2015, the business had expanded their services to offer not only engraving, but also interior and exterior signage, large format printing, branding, design, marketing and so much more. In 2016, Leon and his daughter, Leigh Ana, joined forces and started L & L Amerson, Inc., offering all of the products and services his customers had come to expect from him over his 40+ years in the industry. L & L Amerson, Inc. realized that customer needs were evolving, and expanded their product line to include Trade Show Packages, Folding Carton Packaging, Political Signage, Event Packages, Food and Craft Services labeling... and so much more, all while understanding the importance of the relationships with both NEW and Life Long customers. October 2021 brought even more changes...the decision to change the company name from Amerson, to "L and L American, Inc". We are still a family owned business that enjoys the complexity of a large project, and respects and acknowledges the importance of completing every order on time...regardless of the size. At "L and L American, Inc." we believe in the same two guiding principles that Leon Amerson held when he first started Amerson Engraving in his basement back in 1973: Always provide quality products and services, and understanding the importance of the relationship with your clients. These principles are why Leon Amerson's outstanding reputation in the engraving and signage industry has garnered respect for his knowledge of the field and dedication to our clients.
