Kingwood,
We’d like to take a quick moment to introduce ourselves. We’re Timothy and Krystal Wertman, the husband-and-wife team behind JG Events—a small, family-run company named after “Jelly Girl,” the local jelly and jam vendor many of you might remember from the Kingwood Farmers Market.
Our journey started in the wake of Hurricane Harvey, when our community was hit hard. We were on the ground helping neighbors rebuild—cooking meals, doing laundry, and lending a hand wherever it was needed. Like many local businesses, ours was struggling too. So, we decided to do something different to lift spirits and support the community.
That’s when we launched Texas’ first-ever Pickle Festival, right here in Kingwood—the “In a Pickle Festival.” That first year, Kingwood came together in a way we’ll never forget. The energy, the support, the unity—it was the true meaning of Kingwood Strong.
So, when the Kingwood Town Center Association selected us to take on the city’s core community events—including the 4th of July Fireworks Show and Festival—we were honored.
This is our first year running these events, and like any new chapter, we’ve had our share of challenges. But we’ve worked around the clock to make sure the events Kingwood loves not only continue, but grow.
We’re asking you—our community—to trust us. Because this year’s 4th of July Festival and Fireworks Show is going to be something special:
🎆 We’ve partnered with Roar Over Texas, one of the top fireworks and pyrotechnics companies in the state, to deliver a 25-minute fireworks show and a grand finale that’ll knock your red, white, and blue socks off. No corners were cut—this is going to be a show worth seeing.
📍 Thanks to the support of Ben Derauf, the new GM of Kingwood Country Club, we’re bringing fireworks back to their original launch site—just like it was before 2017. For many, this will be a welcome, nostalgic return.
🤝 With the guidance of Tony Austin, whose passion and experience with Kingwood events over the past 15 years have been invaluable, we’re building on a strong foundation with fresh energy and new goals.
🌭 And for the first time ever, we’re bringing a Hot Dog Eating Contest to the 4th of July Festival!
