ABC13 Houston spoke with former federal prosecutor Michael J. Wynne about where this case may go from here if a grand jury brings forth an indictment.

"Even if a state indictment is returned, under federal law, a federal agent acting in the course of his duties, which this individual unquestionably was, is entitled to remove the case to federal court," Wynne said. "And if they were subjectively acting in the course of their employment, and that belief is objectively reasonable, the federal judge will throw the case out under what's called supremacy clause immunity."

A witness who was inside the van when an ICE agent fatally shot Lorenzo Salgado Araujo in east Houston this summer appeared before a grand jury on Wednesday.

US crude production is near record highs. Diesel crossed $6 a gallon this morning for the first time ever. Both true at the same time, which sounds impossible until you see where the actual problem is.

It isn't at the wellhead. It's at the refinery, and in the tankers that can't get where they need to go.

Our own refineries are running at 98% of capacity, which is about as hard as they can run. The grades of crude that make diesel are the ones stuck behind the Strait of Hormuz. And the government's own forecast has diesel supply staying tight into 2027.

Here's the part that matters if you're wondering what to do about it. Every household in America pays the energy bill whether prices go up or down. A much smaller number of Americans own the other side of it. Our President, Adam W Butcher, walks through the week's data in plain English and makes the case that oil isn't inflationary if you own it.

On June 29, 2024, Representative Julia Letlow (R‑LA) signed a mutual nondisclosure agreement with Laidley LLC, a shell company owned by Meta Platforms. The agreement gave her access to confidential information about Meta’s planned “Hyperion” data center in Richland Parish, Louisiana—a project valued at roughly $50 billion. Within months of signing that NDA, Letlow began purchasing shares of Meta and Nvidia (the semiconductor company whose chips power Meta’s data centers). On January 31, 2025, she sold some of her Nvidia holdings and bought additional Meta stock; she then sold portions of her Meta position on February 7 and again on July 2, 2025. She did not disclose any of these trades until August 11, 2025—more than a month after her final sale and long after the statutory window had closed.
