Bob Byrne is the only attorney in the state of Virginia who is board certified in truck accident law. He runs a serious catastrophic injury practice at Martin Wren in Charlottesville. He and his wife Lauren try cases together, raise their kids together, and a couple of years ago, launched a podcast together called Trials of a Lawyer.
Bob did not start a podcast because a consultant told him to. He started it because he and Lauren were already being asked to speak at conferences, and they thought it made more sense to build a platform they owned than to keep getting on planes.
Here is what I found most valuable in our conversation on The Legal Edge:
Bob has had attorneys he has never met walk up to him at conferences in Las Vegas and California to say they listen to the show. He did not know their names. They knew his voice. Cases have followed.
That is what consistent content actually does inside a demanding legal practice.
We also talked honestly about the parts nobody mentions: the difficulty of staying consistent through an active trial schedule, the bar rule considerations that shape what you can and cannot say, and why most attorney podcasts fail before they ever find an audience.
