Congratulations to Andrew Delgado as he is our 2nd Annual Derrick Tate Memorial Tournament Champion! Andrew qualified as our 9 seed and defeated 8 seed Adam Hardrix, 2 seed Gerrit Vanderwerff, 10 seed Bobby Adcock, and top seed Jacob Molasy in the championship final.

Andrew’s scores for all games were: 200, 215, 278, 242 in qualifying for a 935 total pin fall.

Andrew defeated Adam Hardrix in the first round 246-188, then defeated Gerrit Vanderwerff in a thriller quarter final match 259-258, then he defeated Bobby Adcock 257-212 in the semi final, and Jacob Molasy in the championship 255-150.

Andrew averaged 244 on the day overall. He also averaged an astonishing 254 in all of his bracket round matches!

Andrew now joins Mark Dillard, last year’s champion, to the list of DTM tournament champions!

What a day this turned out to be. We had 47 entries and what made this so awesome is that today was up against a lot of tournaments being bowled near the area. I truly wanna see everyone who hosts tournaments win and be successful.

I cannot say thank you enough to everyone who came out today, who bowled in a sweeper the previous two days, to all of the staff at AMF Pin Palace Lanes, and all of the volunteers who helped us make today successful.

I also want to give a shout out to Tanya Ramirez and Curtis Rideout as they put together all of the items that were raffled and silent auctioned off. The display they put together was absolutely incredible. Congratulations to everyone who won some awesome prizes!

The display of pictures put on display of Derrick with his family and friends got me emotional. Hug those close to you and tell them you love them every day!

To April Preston at Purple Squirrel Productions, we had 7-8 shirts sold in which some of the proceeds from those sales also went into the total collection towards CCI and Oaklyn’s 529 college fund. I really appreciate her and her husband giving their time for this event.

Finally, to Carl Free at ACE Hardware for all of the items donated to help us raise money. He has put up items both times and I am incredibly grateful for him. I don’t think we had enough Yeti cups brother. 😆

I will be posting results soon too. This post was just me wanting to thank you all for coming out and helping Derrick’s family and friends in all ways possible. I appreciate your time. Derrick was a beacon of light and I miss my friend every day. Your support means the world!

Well…we only had 6 entries for the scratch sweeper this evening. I understand a lot of factors come into play when it comes to participation; however, I am thankful for the 6 who still bowled. I added my expense fee back into the prize fund and ran this one for nothing. I was able to pay the top 2. Jackson “Socks” Stiles came away with the win and got $155. Jeff Johnson, who won the handicap sweeper earlier in the day took the last cash spot and received $50. Jackson rolled a stout 1,058 with a 299 to end the day on.
Tomorrow is the main event. Randall Reed (alternate due to Joseph Abernathy not being able to bowl), Jeff Johnson, and Jackson “Socks” Stiles all receive FREE entries.
Between all three sweepers, we averaged just over 8 entries per event (26 entries total). I’m hoping we can bring in some more entries for these sweepers next year. Thank you to everyone who bowled and thanks in advance for those who are planning to bowl tomorrow. Bring your dollar bills too as we will have silent auctions and raffle tickets for a lot of prizes which will 100% go towards a donation to CCI & towards Oaklyn Tate’s 529 College Fund. Doors open at 11 am. Please be registered by no later than 11:45am! We will have opening ceremonies before practice begins. Hope to see as many of you as possible tomorrow!

We had 12 entries for the 12pm qualifier sweeper. Congratulations to Jeff Johnson, Sr. He earned himself $280 and a FREE entry into tomorrow’s Derrick Tate Memorial Tournament! Joseph Abernathy finishes second and rounding out the cash line in third was Rickey Graham!
