Yesterday, I was able to get back into coaching by giving Cullen Brown a lesson. We started from scratch and made a lot of progress. Cullen started out with a three step approach and ended the day being more comfortable with a four step approach.

Timing was one of the biggest things we focused on. As you can see in the left picture, Cullen's left foot is done sliding while the ball is still in his hand. This is what we call late timing. The picture on the right was the result when we got him into a better rhythm which lead to him relaxing his grip; thus, the ball was released properly and with better timing.

Cullen, I appreciate you for giving me an opportunity to work with you on your game and hope I can continue getting you back to where you want to be with a follow up soon.

If you are ready to get that lesson in, please contact me today and we will get our schedules situated. Days and times are extremely limited.

If you are new here, welcome to the Dam Good Average Bowler page! I appreciate you LIKING and FOLLOWING the journey. I'm Michael Price. I have worked for Bowling World pro shop in Huntsville, Alabama for almost 20 years and I was recently inducted into the Huntsville USBC Hall of Fame in the Superior Bowler category back in July 2026. DGAB has been in existence since 2021 and I just recently celebrated my 5 year anniversary too!

DGAB was created from a silly idea going on in my head. Back in 2021, I had just rolled my highest 800 series at the time of 816. If you are a bowling ball historian, I was using a Brunswick Melee Jab Blood Red (great ball by the way & photo posted for reference).

Back then, DV8 had their bowling ball series Damn Good Verge in solid & pearl. I was also constantly wearing a shirt when I was practicing that said, "Average Bowler". One of my good friends and avid supporters, Jackson Stiles, made a comment on my original post while congratulating me and said, "now that is what a Damn Good Average Bowler" does. Within a few days, I made the decision that I did NOT want to step on Brunswick's toes with their name Damn Good Verge, so I dropped the "n" while also wanting it to be a bit more "family friendly" and decided on combining the two names into one, thus Dam Good Average Bowler was born.

Another acquaintance of mine was doodling in their notebook and I decided I needed a mascot or logo. What better mascot for your logo than a beaver, because you know? Beaver Dam? Get it?
A few ideas pitched later and I had my first render of my logo as you can see in the second photo posted. I had a graphic artist color it up and I had my first official DGAB logo ready to go.

One of the coolest things is when someone comes into the pro shop and says, "You're Dam Good Average Bowler, aren't you?". It is also another cool thing when you are forever known as DGAB to your supporters.

I really love the game of bowling for the most part. I pride myself on bringing a quality product to you all as I give some insights with some of the newest releases from Hammer and other Brunswick branded products. I believe in leading by being impartial towards any and all brands of bowling. I have done numerous coaching clinics, given multiple bowling lessons, and continue trying to leave my foot print on this awesome sport of ours.

My TikTok page has almost 4,500 followers. We are over 1k followers here on the page. YouTube continues to trend upwards with almost 700 subscribers and I am still getting the hang of Instagram too. If you have not done so already, please go follow and subscribe to those social media outlets too.

Leave a comment and introduce yourself if this is one of your first times browsing the page. I really do appreciate you all being here and hope that the information I post is beneficial to helping you improve your game. Thanks for stopping by!

Wanted to show everyone what ideas have been going on in my head. There are times where upgrades are necessary.

Would you buy a shirt with these logos on it?

What would be some of your favorite colors to see a mock up in?

DGAB Signature Series Weekly "Challenge" Sweepers are back on a new night! We will be hosting 14 sweeper events on Thursday nights beginning September 10th. We are adding in six more weeks with a few other challenge patterns along with some recreational patterns too.

I will start taking registration at 5:45pm inside the pro shop, then I will announce lane assignments at 6:15 pm, and practice will begin at 6:30 pm.

These sweepers will only be 3 games with the highest pin fall total plus handicap being the winner. There will be NO cut to the Top 4 this fall season. If there is a TIE for first place, there will be a one game roll off to break the tie. All other places that cash and tie will have money split evenly.

Entry fee will remain at $40.00 with an optional high game side pot for just $20.00 more. There will be no brackets offered this time around.

DGAB has a lot of awesome events coming up as far as tournaments are concerned. I wanted to go ahead and get this posted ahead of time. Yes, 3.5 months ahead of time so that you all can get your schedules lined up for our 2nd Annual DGAB Fall Scratch Endurance Classic. Last year, Mark "Freaking" Dillard came away with the victory. Who is up next to take this year's crown?

A couple of small details which have changed from last year:

- We will now only bowl 6 games instead of 8. Highest 6 game total pin fall will be this year's champion.
- This year's oil pattern used will be 43' Kegel Sport pattern Krypton.

I also booked it for Saturday December 12 at 11:00 am which means it is right in between the end of college football regular season and before the Christmas holiday.

I hope to see you all come out and give it a shot. Oh, and don't forget to bring your spare game too!

PLEASE LIKE, COMMENT, & SHARE WITH ALL OF YOUR BOWLING FRIENDS TOO!

DGAB entered week 2 with ZERO expectations coming off that wonderful 588 set previous week. The lanes are not playing as conducive to how I normally roll the ball. I saw early rolling action and no matter which piece I practiced with, the result was the same. This forced me to move my feet and target left. The fact my left knee was giving me fits after prior week I think was a blessing in disguise due to me having to force myself not to get in a hurry on the approach. I finally saw a good look with the Hammer Fallout and decided to let the dice roll and the results for the evening were promising. I ended up with a solid 719 series. I had some of my confidence restored; however, we moved up to third for the quarter and another under rated team awaits us next week. If it is something I have learned over the years, it is that you never take your foot off the gas. It is all about finishing how you started. My 10 pin conversion percentage is currently at 60% after two weeks, which is awful for me (6 of 10). The good news is my knee was not as on fire as it was after the first night of league. Until next time, thanks for reading about my Monday night league experience.
