That's A Wrap Wednesday

Three large decals on a white van for CSJ Professional Painting, and a good reminder while we're at it: you don't need a full wrap to get noticed on the road. One well-built graphic, sized right and placed right, does plenty of work.

Their logo came to us as a flat raster file. Looks great on a phone screen. Blow it up to two feet wide and it goes soft on you. So our wrap team rebuilt it as clean vector art. Sharpened the linework, rebuilt the shadows and outlines so every element held its shape at full size, and dialed the color in for print instead of for a monitor.

Then we printed and installed three decals. Both sides and the back glass. Clean panels, and a logo you can read from across the parking lot.

That's the part folks don't always see. Whatever artwork you hand us, we prep it properly before it ever reaches the printer, and that almost always means making changes. Rebuilding art, correcting color, adjusting scale. We'd rather have that conversation with you up front than hand back something that looks fuzzy at 60 miles an hour.

We're hiring — Signs & Banners Dept.

What you'll be doing: running the printers and keeping them fed. Weeding. Webbing the laminator. Cutting everything from small sticker work up to the big router in the back.

It's hands-on, it's production, and the whole thing lives or dies on whether you catch the thing that isn't right before it goes out the door.

What we're looking for:

• Likes working with their hands
• An eye for quality — the kind that spots the crooked one from across the room
• Good attitude, plays well with the crew
• Comfortable in a production environment

Nice to have, not required: Adobe skills. If you can take on some prepress, that'd help a lot. But production is the actual need right now.

No sign experience? We can teach the equipment. We can't teach caring whether it looks right.

Twenty-five years ago this morning, our country stood still.

Today we remember the 2,977 people lost on September 11, 2001, the first responders who ran toward danger, and those lost since to illness from the rescue and recovery. We hold close the families who have carried that grief for a quarter century.

From our family to yours, we will never forget.

The big spoon panels aren't ours. The precision work around them is.

Vinyl trim and orange pinstripe transoms this week — Brian and Shane on install. Slow work.

Because here's the thing about window graphics: it's not just one surface, it's a system. Glass, frame, door hardware, the address etched on the door, the sightline from the counter, the pattern break where two panels meet. Every one of those is a constraint. Miss one and the whole wall tells on you.

That's why we measure twice and cut once. Some jobs you just can't rush.

That’s a Wrap Wednesday — no wheels on this one.

Elevator doors at the Charger Union over at UAH. That’s Brian down on the floor doing the fussy part. Stainless trim, door gaps, and a seam that has to land where nobody notices it.

Flat surface, tight tolerances, and about a thousand people a day touching it. Different canvas, same job: make it look like it was always supposed to be there.

One month back to class, and we're still catching our breath. 🏫

August around here, in short: two stairwells at Morris Middle School - Huntsville City Schools got their Eagle and nineteen new reasons to take the stairs. Rob and Sarah hauled boxes of art supplies out to Hazel Green Elementary. And the banner orders came in so fast we ran out of banner material, then hemming tape, then spare hands — folks from every department ended up hemming banners.

September's already shaping up: two more classroom scrap deliveries are on the calendar, and since school sports season is just getting rolling, we're extending our 20% off banner sale through the end of the month. Coaches, booster clubs, PTAs — that's your cue.

That's A Wrap Wednesday

"Bentley Delivers." So did the shop.

This is a rollback — a flatbed carrier that hauls a vehicle on its deck instead of dragging it behind on a hook. (A wrecker tows. A carrier carries.) For a dealership, it's the truck customers actually see up close: in their driveway, in the service lane, stopped in traffic with a vehicle on the back. A rolling billboard with a different address every day of the week.

Here's the part that doesn't show up in the photo. That angled blue graphic crosses a cab door, a body gap, a steel deck rail, and a diamond-plate edge — four separate structures that were never built to line up with each other. Getting those stripes to read as one clean, continuous line across all of it is the entire job. And a cab-over front end is mostly compound curve and glass. There's nowhere to hide.

Printed and installed in-house, right here in Huntsville.

Fifty-six years in, and a truck rolling out looking like this still gets the whole shop out of their chairs.

Beep beep, coming through!

Today, Rob and Sarah made their way to Hazel Green Elementary to hand off 3 boxes of art making goodies and armfuls of rolled banner and vinyl material.

This stuff is what’s leftover after big jobs, and there’s nothing we can use them for here. So instead, we hand them off to our teachers. We trust their kids know exactly what to do with them!

We are looking forward to seeing what the kids come up with!
