COZ Art

COZ Art Life is a long winding road. Sometimes it takes a turn to somewhere you least expect, and for me…that change happened this year.

I will now be creating art and signs in my little off grid cabin in the heart of the Ozarks. COZ Art is the culmination of my lifelong passion with art and my hometown of Cortez (COZ) and the surrounding barrier islands. Life on the coast has shaped my views, my artistic interests and my life. I have supported myself primarily through artistic endeavors my whole life, but the decision to devote my

life exclusively to art has been long overdue. I have been a sign maker since the age of 17, teaching myself the once-apprenticed trade of hand lettering. I have worked as a scenic artist, freelance illustrator and muralist. The materials and techniques I use in my sculpture (primarily surfboard foam and fiberglass) reflect my heritage and are skills I learned patching boats with my dad as a kid. I am thoroughly enjoying bringing all these aspects together to create and do my small part to make the world a more beautiful place. Thank you for allowing me to share it with you!

Well it took more than a month to get fully settled in, but I now have a functional studio and I’ve been diving back in to quick watercolors to get back into my creative groove. I plan to start some larger pieces to offer for sale here and am also taking limited commission work. I am just about a month away from finishing my little cabin studio in the Ozarks and I will be back to creating art and signs! Excited to get back to my roots. I’m interested to see how the energy here…these mountains, the seasons and the abundance of new plants and wildlife will inspire my art. Grateful you all are along for the ride with me!

Well it’s been a minute since I’ve posted. In light of the recent hurricanes, I am on taking on a limited amount of commissions for signs. If your sign was damaged or lost to the storm, message me and I will get you on my schedule. I am NOT taking on any other type of artwork commissions, only commercial signage to help speed up our communities

I can finally share this project as it has been a while in the making, but it was also a gift. I had to wait for it to be delivered to post.
I’ve never built a rocking horse before, much less a rocking seahorse! Carved from laminated 2x12 pine and custom painted. I can’t take all the credit, Rob McGrath did the glue ups, the rockers and assembly. Custom upholstered saddle was made by Emme Greer of Creatrix Emporium. I hope this gives little Asher years of enjoyment!!
