-21 with the wind chill this morning.
Uncomfortable elements help shape us into who we aim to become. Growth lives in discomfort. And while this sounds great and inspiring, the truth of it is, actually getting into the thick of it can feel a lot like the bite of 20 below.
These uncomfortable elements that produce growth are far deeper than the weather outside. And the comfort we should get away from goes much further than another night of Netflix binging.
I'd venture to say that most of us have some sort of storm we need to weather. And here's what I know. The character that storms build is worth facing the elements and you are far more capable than you believe. You will never regret your decision to push past the discomfort.
Not everyone gets to feel what's on the other side of it. Most won't even consider opening the front door to feel the cold air blowing in.
But the people I admire most in life trudge head first into it, prepared to face whatever comes their way, not in fear of the unknown, but confident that there is opportunity to be shaped for the better.
So here's to facing cold weather quite literally, icy beard and all, as well as figuratively.
