If you provide a local service, it is essential that you dedicate a page on your website for each service you provide and a page for each location you provide.

Those pages should have at least 800-2,000 words describing the service or answering questions about it.

Depending on how large your service area, your structure should look like this at the basic level:

Residential Solar
Commercial Solar
Phoenix, AZ
Chandler, AZ
Glendale, AZ
Tempe, AZ
Scottsdale, AZ
Mesa, AZ
Surprise, AZ
Avondale, AZ
Etc

But, if you want to really dominate local search, you should have a service-location page for every location

Residential Solar Services in Phoenix, AZ
Commercial Solar Services in Phoenix AZ
Residential Solar Services in Chandler, AZ
Commercial Solar Services in Chandler AZ
Residential Solar Services in Glendale, AZ
Commercial Solar Services in Glendale AZ

Local SEO advice for those of you with websites: Should you use AI to create content?
There are concerns about using AI content. I'll go over them more in detail later or in the comments if you'd like- just comment with your questions or concerns.
I've been testing AI content for the last year. And, using AI content- if done properly, can help to boost the SEO results for a local website.
Most of you aren't competing nationally for your services so each page of content related to your services can have a big impact on how well you rank.
**Did you know that most locally-ranking companies have under 25 pages on their website?**
Additional pages about your services can make a big difference.
Find the keyword you want to rank. Identify a longer keyword that's 4-5 words, not shorter ones of 1-2 words. It will be easier to rank for longer keywords and you'll get more semantic rankings with Google also.
Use AI to outline or write an article on how to solve that problem.
Here are some examples:
"When do I need a new roof?" or
"How to repair a roof after a windstorm?"
"When is solar worth it?"
"Pros and cons of solar energy"
"Cost to build a deck"
"How to build a deck"
"What costs the most in a kitchen remodel?"
"Should I redo my floors or a kitchen to get the most value?"
There are hundreds of other commonly-searched questions you can write about.
If you use AI to draft your article- you can publish new pages very quickly. This will help your overall website to rank higher.
I advise publishing it quickly and if you need to go grab photos from one of your projects- then add those in the next few days, but publish first because it will take Google some time to discover the new page and it will take several months for the page to get it's optimal ranking on Google.
AI can also help you to rewrite or summarize your article so you can post it on social outlets.

Should you have a street address on your website?
I understand the concerns. For many contractors- a street address may mean giving out your personal home address because you may not have an office that you rent. Your work is in the field!

It can be a privacy concern. I'll show you how to gain the credibility on Google and keep your privacy in this post.

Unfortunately, Google has the job of sorting out all the spammy websites so that people get legit results. One of the ways they decide that is with street addresses. If a local business doesn't list a street address- it can affect how well they rank on Google.

If your competitors have street addresses listed- they will get points in that area, but your website won't.

One way you can put a street address on your website is to use a PO Box. You will need to rent the P.O. Box, but you can use the street address of the Post Office and use "suite" instead of PO Box on the address.

This will make it possible for Google to send you a postcard to verify your address and will make you increase your trust rating with Google.

Don't forget to include an "About Us" page with a photo of yourself or your crew and some jobs you've done. Include what geographical area you service and the types of work you do.

And a "Contact Us" page should also have your phone, email, social media profiles, and physical street address (of the PO Box if you are using that) in addition to your contact form. The more ways you give customers to reach you- the more leads you can get AND the more legit you appear to Google.

Local SEO advice for those of you with websites: Should you use AI to create content?

There are concerns about using AI content. I'll go over them more in detail later or in the comments if you'd like- just comment with your questions or concerns.

Here are 5 steps you can take on your webpage to help it rank much better:

1. Choose or Decide on your primary keyword.

Your page can only have one. Once you decide the target keyword (usually a phrase)- Put it in the Title of your page exactly the way it is.

Primary keywords should be long-tailed, containing more than just 1-2 words. They should target exactly the type of reader you want.

How long your primary keyword is will depend on your business. If you are a roofer, some primary keywords for different pages might be "Idaho Falls Roofing company," which is different than "IF Roofing Company" or "Rigby Roofing Company."

Some of what you think is a primary keyword is best suited as a secondary keyword. (For example "IF Roofing Company")

You'll know its a secondary keyword if it's not as popular and not searched as frequently.

2. Put your keyword in an H2 in your article.

It needs to be exactly the keyword, not a changed version.

3. Put the keyword in the text body of the paragraph.

4. Include the Primary Keyword in the URL

5. Add the keyword into your image name and description.

You don't need to worry about stuffing your text full of your keyword. Although people did that in the past, Google hates it because it's a bad user experience.

Instead, use the alternative forms of the keyword to write naturally about your keyword (topic, service, or product.)

6. Lastly, make sure that you link to another relevant article on your website.

Doing these things will give you the best chance for success.

You'll rank higher.
You'll bring in more leads.

This is especially important and effective for local companies that don't have to compete with large, massive websites for local keyword ranking.

It's critical for websites that do compete nationally.
