The holidays aren't just a retail season.
Someone's booking a party venue. Someone's ordering a catered spread. Someone's calling a cleaning service because the in-laws arrive Thursday and the guest room is currently a storage unit.
Every one of those is a holiday customer, and every one of those businesses needs a holiday ad.
We pulled together a flipbook of holiday ads covering it all, from holiday events to housekeeping. Flip through for ideas you can use for your own business this season. 🎄

Postage went up this year. For a lot of local businesses, so will their mail budget.
36.6% of owners with mail experience plan to spend more on mail in 2027. Not because it got cheaper. Because it works for them.
That's from Valpak's 2027 State of Local Business Advertising survey of 514 owners, and the mail findings tell a clear story.
These aren't occasional mailers. 27.4% mail weekly or more, and another 43.3% mail monthly or quarterly.
They're getting sharper, not smaller. 42.2% plan to tighten their targeting to cut waste.

Most holiday marketing is built around the gift. Far less is built around the table.
38% of shoppers plan to host a holiday gathering this year. Most expect to spend $100–$249 (36%) or $250–$499 (35%) on food and entertaining.
Ask them where they want local holiday offers and the answer isn't a store at the mall:
Grocery stores: 51%
Restaurants and catering: 43%
Bakeries: 32%
The offers with the most pull are family meal bundles (33%) and buy-one-entree-get-one-free (31%).
The demand is real, and few advertisers treat grocery and hospitality as a holiday category. For local restaurants, bakeries, caterers and the brands sold in grocery, that's one of the clearest openings of the season.

Cheers to International Coffee Day ☕
Here's a stat worth waking up for: Valpak households spend 12% more than average on coffee.
That's more lattes, more cold brews, and yes, more "one PSL, extra whip, don't judge me."
Coffee shop owners, your next regulars are already out there, practically sniffing the cinnamon in the air. Let's point them your way: https://www.valpak.com/advertise/

Every fall brings the same prediction: nervous shoppers, shrinking budgets, a cautious season.
Our new Valpak survey with PureSpectrum found a different holiday shopper.
35% plan to spend more than last year. Another 40% plan to spend about the same. That holds even though 80% are worried about rising prices.
They aren't pulling back. They're scrutinizing every offer, and that changes what wins:
→ Total dollars saved (37%) beats percentage off (32%)
→ Buy-one-get-one leads all offer types at 36%
→ 41% start shopping in September or October
If your holiday campaign launches Thanksgiving week, a lot of your customers are already halfway through their lists.

AI is changing how consumers find offers. Postal policy is changing what it costs to reach them. And online and offline channels are working together more than most attribution models give them credit for.
On October 8, we're covering all of it in one session:
→ Delivering performance in the era of AI
→ The e-commerce halo effect
→ The latest USPS news
→ New consumer survey data

The 2026 midterms are now the most expensive election cycle on record: $11.6B in projected political ad spend, per AdImpact.
If you advertise on local TV, you're feeling it. Candidates get the lowest unit rate in the final 60 days, political money is flooding streaming too, and commercial spots are getting pricier, scarcer and preempted.
One channel barely notices: the mailbox. BIA finds direct mail draws less than 5% of its spend from political, and a Valpak drop lands on schedule at the price you booked.
