Embarking on a Master's program two decades after completing my undergraduate education was a daunting experience, filled with both fear and mental exhaustion. I didn't know whether I would succeed or not, or if I was able to get back into the rhythm of studying and applying myself once again after so long, especially since I work full-time and am also a mother and a wife.
However, this journey taught me a valuable lesson: age should never be a barrier to learning. Embracing the role of a lifelong learner is very important in life, as it allows us to continually challenge ourselves. Through dedication and hard work, I discovered that many of the obstacles I faced were actually self-imposed. As I persevered, I realized that the limits I perceived were often illusions and that I had the strength to overcome all of them!
As women, we often prioritize the needs of others over our own, neglecting ourselves in the process. However, I believe it's not a matter of choosing between ourselves and others; rather, it should be a harmonious balance between the two.
I cannot wait to see what this new phase will bring, but whatever life brings...I am confident in my ability to excel. I have a little over 4 months left in the Master's program and although I am beyond mentally, physically, and emotionally exhausted, I am also grateful for the experience and the people I have met on this journey. I have learned that I still HAVE IT, I am still a fighter and will not be scared to try new things moving forward.
What are some self-imposed obstacles you have encountered in life and how have you overcome them?
