Ever wonder what’s up with the paddle?

St. Francis High School and Cambridge-Isanti High School have a football rivalry known as the Battle for the Paddle. It started in 2014, with the trophy being a giant paddle painted in both schools’ colors.

The idea came from both schools being located along the Rum River. Each time one school wins, they get to add the year and score to their side of the paddle, a tradition that’s carried on ever since.

And that’s exactly why this year’s shirt design features the paddle front and center. It’s a symbol of the rivalry, the history, and the bragging rights that come with it.

It's always a great day to be a Blue Jacket.
