CNN and nearly all major media outlets on the planet now have a version of the story. CNN mentions our MicroCT data of the "Captain's sash." Great job to all at Historic Jamestowne, Smithsonian's National Museum of Natural History, and the other X-ray facilities involved with this and the silver box (FBI, Microphtonics, GE). Here's an image of the dirt which was excavated as a block; it remains a block of dirt and you only have the hint of what's beneath.... until you use non-invasive Micro CT technology to see inside! In this case we used a ZEISS Microscopy Xradia Versa 520 instrument and OsiriX software for visualization.

Insightful commentary by Therese Markow in PNAS about our recent PNAS paper. We wholeheartedly agree that in this age of excellent molecular biology, the study of dynamic morphology remains a critical piece to help solve many puzzles. Part of the fun is to continue to push the limits of non-invasive high resolution 3D CT imaging and integrate those datasets into other branches of science. ZEISS Microscopy
