Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is wildly important to small business.

Let's break down a couple possible captions to show how you might be competitive.

Example: "Our coffee is literally the best! Oven roasted beans, brewed to perfection, served with a smile"

The terms used above would allow you to be found for people searching very generic queries.

Things like:
-Coffee
-Beans
-Brewed Coffee

But who really does that? AND of all the people searching for those terms, how many could actually buy your coffee?

SEO Optimized Example:
" Our coffee is the best in Snead's Ferry! Our beans are slow roasted, brewed to perfection, and served with some of the best vibes a local coffee shop can offer. Come hang out with us"

This example would appear in more relevant searches for things like:
-Sneads Ferry Coffee
-Local Coffee Shop
-Good Vibes
-Hang out

All relevant to the term "Snead's Ferry".

This also goes for people on the higher ticket side of things.

Realtors, Mortgage Lenders, Tractor Sales, Boat Repair, Transmissions shops, etc.. could all benefit from optimizing their captions for SEO as well.

You lose twice when you try to tell off somebody who left a complaint on your business social.

The best thing you can do is hit'em with a "We are sorry you've had a less than awesome experience. We would love for you to reach out to us so we can try and make it up to you!- Here is our email: [email protected]"

Even if they are wrong, most people won't go through the trouble of emailing you. If they do, you have the opportunity to make it up to them, or reiterate your stance on the situation.

The best case scenario is they feel heard and offer to change their review.
The worse case scenario is their review stays, but you portrayed yourself and business as humble, customer service driven, and understanding.

There are very few scenarios where negative complaints need to be addressed in a piece of content.

It can be satisfying to have the final say, but it's very rarely worth the impact it could have on your brand down the road.

The name of the game is entertainment. People don't go on Instagram to be sold; they go to be entertained.

The major questions you need to answer as a business are:

How do I entertain while promoting my product?
How do I entertain while teaching people?
How do I entertain while building a community?

One of the low-hanging fruits of this concept is memes.

They are easy to produce, they tend to get chuckles, and they can help make your points more entertaining.

The harder-to-acquire creatives are short-form videos. They can be funny, inspiring, or even just scratch a common curiosity. But the common denominator is that they all entertain.

This doesn't work for all brands, but for the most part, it is a widely accepted and efficient strategy.

This is the dichotomy of Organic vs. Paid social media.

Think of paid social media ads as buying food from the grocery store, and organic social media as farming.

It's quick and easy to just pay somebody for some food, but you will always have to buy food to continue getting it.

With farming, you might not see the fruit of your labor for months or even years, but when you do start yielding fruit, you won't ever have to buy from the store again.

With that being said, going to the store while you sow your seeds is an awesome suggestion.
