I’ve been pretty open this month about the work I’ve been doing with James Wedmore’s 21 Days to 100 Leads Challenge. It’s been humbling, clarifying, and honestly one of the most energizing things I’ve done for my business in a long time.

So when James announced his once-a-year free training series — The Business Breakthrough Experience — I didn’t hesitate.

I’ll be honest: I’m still relatively new to James’s world. I joined BBD back in December and I’ve been heads down doing the work ever since. I don’t have a dramatic transformation story to share yet. But that’s kind of the point. I’m signed up for this training because I want to be in the room. I want to keep learning. And I think it’s going to be one of those experiences that helps me connect a lot of dots.

It’s three live sessions, it’s free, and it starts June 11.

If you’re a small business owner who’s been doing the work and still wondering why certain things aren’t clicking, I think this is worth your time. I’ll be there and I’d love the company.

On my morning walks, when I’m not sharing my own thoughts on video, you’ll often find me with a podcast in my ears. It’s one of my favorite ways to take in new ideas without adding more screen time to my day.

I’ve been doing a lot of honest self-reflection lately. The 100 Leads Challenge has been pushing me to get real about my offer, my audience, and where I actually am in my business right now.

So when James dropped a free private podcast last week, the timing felt right.
It’s called The Quantum Leap Effect and it’s all about what it actually takes to engineer a real breakthrough in your business. Not incremental improvement. Not doing more of the same, faster. An actual shift.

I’m only two episodes in, but the premise alone stopped me in my tracks: breakthroughs take longer to prepare for than you expect, but when they happen, they happen fast. All the invisible work you’ve been doing? That’s the foundation.

It’s free and it comes with a workbook. If you’ve been feeling like you’re doing the work but waiting for something to shift, this might be worth your time.

One of the tasks in the 100 Leads Challenge with James Wedmore is to share your lead magnet idea with your audience before you build it — to test whether it actually resonates before investing time and energy into creating it.
So that’s what I’m doing today. Practicing what I preach.
Here’s what I keep seeing with small business owners who are frustrated with their marketing — and honestly, what I’ve seen in my own journey too:
They find a strategy that worked for someone else and run with it. They follow the tactics, show up consistently, do all the things. And it still doesn’t land.
Not because they’re doing it wrong. But because the strategy wasn’t built for where they actually are.
Most marketing advice assumes everyone starts from the same place. They don’t. And following a roadmap that wasn’t designed for your starting point is one of the most common — and costly — mistakes I see. In time, money, and confidence.
That’s why I’m thinking of putting together a free personalized assessment — The Next Best Steps for YOUR Business — that helps small business owners identify exactly where they are in their marketing journey and uncover their next 3 best steps forward.
The basis of this assessment is part of a discovery process I do with every Maple Creative client — something I charge over $1,000 for. This would be yours free. Takes about 5 minutes.
I already shared this on my personal page, so if you’ve seen it there — thank you for your patience while I do the work in public.
Would this be of interest to you? Comment “Uncover” or send me a DM and let me know.

Something I see constantly with small business owners: their marketing feels scattered or inconsistent, and they assume they need a better strategy.

Usually that’s not the problem.

The problem is they’ve never really done the foundational work. And I get it — there’s this urge to just hit the ground running. Start posting. Send the emails. Figure it out as you go.

But without that foundation, you’re just creating content with no real framework to function within.

And some people have done the work — or think they’ve done it — but they’ve really only scratched the surface.

Getting genuinely clear on who your best customers are, what’s going on in their world right before they decide to buy, and what they’re really looking for beyond the obvious? That changes everything about how you show up.

I do a version of this with every single Maple Creative client before we touch anything else. And inside The Canopy, we have a simple worksheet that walks you through the same questions on your own.

If your marketing has felt harder than it should lately, this might be why.

I started this business working between naps and trips to the playground. My son was born and I thought — I can make this work around him.

He’s 19 now. My daughter is 15.

I’ve been thinking a lot lately about what I actually want this next chapter to look like. And one thing I know for sure — I’m not interested in finally having more time and handing it all to the business.

That’s a big part of why I’m doing the work I’m doing right now. Want to know more? I wrote about it this week — shoot me a DM and add you to my list.

So, I’m on Day 3 of the 100 Leads in 21 Days Challenge with James Wedmore. Not as far along as I planned, but not for the reasons you might think.

It’s not too hard. It’s not too time-consuming. It’s asking me to do the work I ask my clients to do every day. Get clear on your offer. Get honest about who you’re actually serving and what they really need.

I’ve never fully done that for myself. And that’s a humbling thing to realize when marketing is literally what I do.

But that’s exactly why I’m doing it.

Most people think a rebrand is just a new logo. But what actually happens when a business decides it’s time to show up differently?

This is Advanced Air — an HVAC company that came to us as Advanced Air & Metal Inc. with a logo that had served them well but no longer reflected where they were headed.

What followed was a full discovery process: understanding their values, their clients, their market, and the story they actually wanted to tell. From there, we moved into concept sketches — exploring everything from fan blade shapes to mountain silhouettes to typographic plays on the double A — before narrowing down to final directions and ultimately landing on the brand you see here.

The result wasn’t just a prettier logo. It was a brand identity that gave their team something to stand behind and their clients something to trust.

That’s what brand clarity does. It doesn’t just change how you look — it changes how you show up, how you’re perceived, and what becomes possible because of it.

If you’re a business owner who’s been wondering whether your brand is still working for you, that question is worth paying attention to.

Doors close tonight. 🌿

I’m doing the 21 Days to 100 Leads Challenge starting May 8— and there’s still time to join me at the $21 price before it jumps to $97 at midnight.

If you’ve been on the fence, this is the nudge. We can do it together!

I’ve spent the last few months quietly building something I’m really proud of — a membership community called The Canopy, with 17 founding members already inside.

And then I realized: I have no idea how to find the next 100.

My design business has always grown through referrals. Word of mouth. People who already know me. But building an online membership is a completely different game, and growing an audience from scratch is not something I’ve ever had to figure out before.

So when I came across a 21-day challenge built entirely around getting your first 100 leads — created by James Wedmore, the same person whose program helped me launch The Canopy in the first place — I signed up immediately.

And, I wanted to share it with you!

If you’re in the same boat — you’ve got something valuable to offer but you’re not sure how to get it in front of the right people — come do this one with me. Link in comments. Doors close May 7th.

I’m back. ☀️

A little salty, a little sun-kissed, and a whole lot more clear-headed than when I left.

There’s something about stepping away from the day-to-day that reminds you what you’ve been putting off — and how much you love what you do. I came home genuinely excited to get back to work, which honestly felt like a gift.

And that means I’m ready to start showing up here more consistently. Over the coming weeks I’ll be sharing design and branding insights, honest business and marketing talk, and updates on The Canopy, which already has 17 founding members inside and is getting ready to launch for real very soon.

Good to be back. Say hi in the comments — I’d love to know you’re here. 🌿
