Well another long show season is in the books. It was a tough winter with only 2 litters to raise up for the summer show. LVSP sent only 9 pigs to the fair, however, we still managed to pull 1 first in class, 4 second in class, and 2 thirds.
We also brought in a few barrows and gilts from off the farm for the kids to show and ended up, collectively as a LVSP family doing really well.
A huge shout out those who pulled ribbons and banners.
Drew Bouma- 1st in class gilt, Grand Champion Division 1 Gilt, and Overall Reserve Champion Gilt
Jaelyn Bouma -1st in class, Division 2 Grand Champion Gilt
Rogen Koorndyk- 1st in class, Division 2 Reserve Champion Gilt.
Brecken Koorndyk-2nd in class Gilt
Brandon Bouma- 2nd in class Barrow
Ava Vande Bunte - 1st in class Barrow, 2nd in class gilt
Hib Kuipers family rounding it out with 2 second in class, and 1 third in class ribbon.
I’m probably missing a few in there as well- I’m sorry if I missed you.
Back to the barn and start breeding for next year. Thanks to all those who continue to support us through the year

Ya know people ask “are they good?”, and ever now and then they ask “but are they good enough?”. We kinda kick the dirt, look down, look up, raise a eyebrow, get a smirk and say “ they might just be”. That’s the way we feel about these two gilts. These two December gilts fit the mold.
We were gonna keep these two to roll into our Hampshire program, but our February crosses blew our mind and we can only keep so many.
These two December 11 gilts are going to make there presence known in the ring come July and are now available at a reasonable cost.

Got the first litter on the ground for the year. Anybody looking for pure bred Hampshires for July fairs or Michigan Livestock Expo get a hold of us. These are bred to our house sow that’s hung ribbons in the past to one of Shipley Swine Genetics top boars, The Program.
These will be fun to watch grow. Moms a tall fronted, big b***d, muscle in all the right spots, and extremely maternal. Dad, well, he speaks for himself. He’s a deep ribbed, wide chested, big b***d stud. In the words of Randy Shipley “He was a must buy at the World Pork Expo”.
Born the second week of December these will suit the needs of anybody looking for high quality show pigs for shows from the end of June to beginning of August.
We’d love to sell private treaty, to save you and us money. Contact us at any point if interested
More pictures to follow as soon as we get them on chips in a few weeks

As our show year came to a end last week, Little Valley Show Pigs cannot say enough how proud we are of those who bought from and supported us last year. We sent 18 hogs to our community fair. Ten different 4H’ers showed. These kids did exactly what they needed to do to show high quality show pigs, right from the start.
Little Valley’s family of pig buyers ended up going 10 for 18 on the night, including 2-third place, 6-second place, and 2-first place ribbons, while having 2 Barrows in the final drive that just fell short.
As most barns are sitting empty now, ours is just starting to get busy. We are breeding already for July shows, and will be breeding real soon for August shows.
Our goal isn’t to put the most pigs in the barn, but the best. So get ahold of us in the Spring and see what we can do for you.
Stay tuned through your “off” season, to see whats happening at LVSP’s busy season of farrowing.

~Thanks again for all your support.

How about a litter of 11/11 from “Ladies Man” bred to Little Valleys purebred Hampshire. Some of these might make a great addition your breeding program, early winter shows, or even your freezer.
