A once prominent Atlanta area financial advisor and former radio host remains one of the FBIโs most wanted fugitives after disappearing nearly six years ago amid allegations of a multi-million-dollar investment fraud scheme.
According to todayโs โMost Wanted Fraudsterโ FBI-Atlanta Facebook Post, 43 year old Christopher W. Burns, is wanted for his involvement in a mail fraud scheme that investigators say defrauded dozens of victims out of at least $10 million. The FBI is currently offering a reward of up to $150,000 for information leading to his arrest and conviction.
Before his disappearance, Burns was a well-known figure in Georgiaโs financial community. He served as CEO of Dynamic Money and hosted The Chris Burns Show on WSB Radio, where he discussed financial planning and investment strategies. According to the SEC, Burns purchased airtime for the program and was not an employee of WSB Radio.
Federal prosecutors allege that Burns operated several businesses, including Dynamic Money, Investus Advisers, Investus Financial, and Peer Connect. According to court filings, investors were told their money would be used in a low-risk โpeer-to-peerโ lending program backed by collateral and personal guarantees. Authorities say those representations were false and that investor funds were instead used to repay earlier investors, support business operations, and fund Burnsโ personal lifestyle.
The investigation came to a head in September 2020. Burns reportedly disappeared on September 24, 2020, one day before he was scheduled to provide documents to the Securities and Exchange Commission as part of an ongoing investigation. His vehicle was later found abandoned in Dunwoody, Georgia. Despite efforts by law enforcement, Burns has not been located.
In 2020, authorities charged Burns with mail fraud. A federal grand jury later returned an indictment charging him with multiple counts of wire fraud, mail fraud, and money laundering related to the scheme.
The FBI describes Burns as 6โ2โ tall, approximately 240 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. He is a registered investment advisor and has a tattoo on his left forearm consisting of three black interlaced triangles. His last known residence was in Berkeley Lake, Georgia.
Anyone with information regarding Burnsโ whereabouts is encouraged to contact the FBI or submit a tip through the agencyโs website. The FBI continues to seek information from potential victims and members of the public who may know where Burns is located.
As with all criminal cases, the charges against Burns are allegations, and he is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
