IRP Commerce just dropped their July 2026 numbers. Global ecommerce conversion sits at 2.2%. Shopify stores specifically land at 1.4% on average.
That single number is doing a lot of work, and it's hiding almost everything that matters.
A store hitting 2.2% blended might have desktop crushing it at 3.5% while mobile drags at 1.8%. Their organic search traffic could be pulling 4.1% while paid social barely cracks 0.9%. One store. Three completely different conversion stories.
We start every client audit by pulling conversion by device and traffic source. Most store owners haven't looked at this breakdown. They're staring at one percentage and making decisions blind.
The stores moving real revenue know exactly where visitors convert best and where they're bailing. They segment by device, by channel, by product category. Then they test against what's actually broken instead of guessing.
Do you know what your conversion actually looks like when you break it down by device and traffic source? Or are you watching one number?
