Cars can be smaller than a Smart! And garbage pick up is done very differently here - not only do the Dutch separate garbage (glass, plastic, paper and regular trash) they also have developed a great system - the containers are in the ground, so no smell and no unsightly garbage - the garage truck has an arm that is like a big screwdriver that attaches to the top metal pole sticking out of the the trash container, lifts the garbage container and empties it into the truck. Meanwhile the hole in the ground (where to container is housed) has doors that close so no one falls in.

We had the opportunity to tour the Innovation Depot in Birmingham, AL with their Director of Marketing and Operations Ritchie Kruunenberg. The building is way cool, the interior design fantastic and the concept of the Innovation Depot itself is amazing. They are helping tech startups in the city to become full fledged companies in providing office and meeting space, events and support for these companies.
