Today, Tennessee, and the world, lost a true treasure.

Dolly Parton represented so much of what makes East Tennessee special: faith, determination, generosity, humor and the courage to dream far beyond where you started. She never forgot her roots, and she used her success to lift up countless others.

Several years ago, we had the privilege of celebrating Dolly through these beautiful, hand-drawn prints created by local artist Grady Edmisten. They were presented as awards at our Music & Miles Half Marathon; one Tennessee artist honoring another.

Today, this photograph means even more to us.

Thank you, Dolly, for the music, the laughter, the books, the kindness and the example you set for all of us. Your light will continue to shine across these Tennessee mountains and far beyond.

Rest peacefully, Dolly. You will always be loved. 🦋
