Jana Ireijo said she's using wildfire charcoal from Maui's 2023 fire. She found charcoal near Olinda Road, across the street from the Maui Bird Conservation Center. She will be demonstrating live at the Downtown Art Center through August.

Beyond our regular programming, the Hui is serving clients of Ka Hale A Ke Ola Homeless Resource Centers in weekly art lessons taught by Hui teaching artists. Hui No‘eau is also offering free Art with Heart at the Hui events on Saturdays for people to create and connect. Hui No‘eau is now working with the American Red Cross to provide arts activities for families in non-congregate shelters in Lahaina. The Hui’s ongoing Na Keiki No‘eau Program continues to serve students in five Title 1 elementary school A+ programs, where we anticipate we will reach some of the more than 400 displaced children from Lahaina who have enrolled in other schools. The Hui is hosting pop-up art booths at several free community events to directly serve those who have been impacted.
