Time for another piece from my Studio Knickknackery collection! 👾✨

This little green monster was crocheted by a talented friend of mine a while back, and he’s been keeping me company in the studio ever since. I love surrounding myself with fun, quirky pieces made by fellow artists; they bring so much personality and inspiration to my workspace.

Pencil layout is all set for a new 11-inch circular piece on 15" x 15" Stonehenge paper. My older boys and their families are coming in this week for an extended visit, so my main focus will be spending time with everyone while they're here.

I'm keeping my drawing board set up right where I can reach it so I can lay down the fine-liner ink work in short bursts during the quiet morning hours before the house wakes up. There are so many tiny elements crammed into this forest floor: a tree frog, a little millipede, oak leaves, and mushrooms sprouting off the log. Looking forward to bringing them out line by line! ☕🌿

Butterflies always steal the spotlight, but moths have amazing textures. The furry antennae, the dusty wing scales, and those dramatic eye patterns. His wings and body are complete; now I need to finish the rest of the drawing. 🖊️✨

Having Elegant Strength back home and up on the wall feels like such a great marker of progress. 🐍✨

This piece took 28 hours of detailed graphite work, and seeing it framed up in the house is a nice reminder of where patience and focus can lead. While my daily desk setup is still tucked into the dining space for now, having this hanging nearby brings so much inspiration into the room while we build out the new studio downstairs.

Grateful for the journey, the exhibitions, and every step along the way. 🌿

If you’ve peeked around my studio before, you know I love collecting nature-inspired pieces. My current favorite collection is these handmade pottery leaves! 🍁✨

A friend of mine makes them, and I’ve made it a tradition to buy one or two from her every year. The leaf-vein details and the way those glazes turn out get me every time. The goal is to hang them all up together on a wall in my studio one day, but for now, they bring so much inspiration to my workspace.

It turns out it’s officially frog week around here. 🐸✨

Just a little doodle on my desk today, but I love imagining what this guy is up to, probably just hanging out in the grass, watching the day pass by.

I wanted to play with my Derwent Lightfast pencils and fine-liner ink for this one. The way these pencils blend into each other is so satisfying, and those bright, bold colors just instantly bring a happy, fun energy to the page. 🌾💛
