Last week, we were honored to attend a reception at The Epic Center to thank donors and showcase many of the improvements made thus far as a direct result of their successful “Anchoring the Arts” Capital Campaign.
We are so blessed to live in a community that understands the value and supports the continued growth of the Arts. And in Kalamazoo, the heart of the arts is the Epic Center. The arts add color and meaning to life. They heal the soul, ignite the spirit, and infuse people and communities with hope.

In Kalamazoo, the heart of the arts is the Epic Center. Within its walls, you'll find 10 arts organizations, two performance theaters, gallery spaces, a community box office, a public broadcast facility and a full-service restaurant. Opened in 2000, the Epic Center embodies beauty, creativity and accessibility, however these qualities can only endure with ongoing maintenance and care. That is why they need our help. The goal of their "Anchoring the Arts" Campaign is to ensure the Epic Center continues to shine a bright and bold light on Kalamazoo's vibrant arts scene for years to come.

Come walk and tour the incredible public art in our community in conjunction with the Kalamazoo County Public Arts Commission as they unveil the Pixel Stix project! Each Spring, baby painted turtles emerge from their hidden nests in our yard and start their grueling trek down to the nearby pond. No more than the size of a quarter, they have to crawl over 400 ft. down hill through the forest floor, filled with thistle, downed branches and years of fallen leaves. When we see one, we usually try to give the little dude or dudette a 'free ride' down to their new home. It's a wonderful reminder that we are all just visitors on this planet. Turtles have been here for over 230 million years. So let's take our role as the "new kid" on the block more seriously and try not screw it up.
