I used to think my first industry job was going to completely change my life.
Honestly, it didn’t.
What it did do was teach me how real growth actually works.
Tiger Rock was my first step into the creative industry. I was 22, editing videos, repurposing content, filming events, and figuring things out as I went. I thought I’d walk in and suddenly become great because I finally had the “industry job.”
Instead, I learned that nobody is coming to save you.
A lot of the growth happened after work.
YouTube.
Trial and error.
Long nights.
Paying attention.
Meeting people.
Learning how to navigate leadership, pressure, frustration, and expectations.
And more importantly, I learned proximity matters.
One connection led to another.
That led to weddings.
That led to agency work.
That eventually led me into rooms I never imagined being in at 22.
Private jets.
Luxury clients.
High-level entrepreneurs.
Fast-moving teams.
People operating at a completely different standard.
Your first job probably won’t be your dream job.
But if you stay curious, work hard, and pay attention, it might become the bridge to it.
And for the record, I’m grateful for Tiger Rock. Without that opportunity, I genuinely wouldn’t be where I am today.
