Brands, like humans, go through life stages from conception to adulthood. When well cared for, a brand can acquire such deep meaning that its presence becomes part of our lives and maybe even our culture for generations. We’re proud to see the Kansas City Current, a brand we designed and helped launch on October 30, 2021, all grown up and thriving. Here’s a little insight into how it got started.

We joined the ICOM global network of independent agencies because as the brands we work with continue to have more and more international reach, the more connected we need to be with resources all over the world.

The energy and learning from this year’s conference in Porto delivered. There is nothing quite like getting people representing more than 50 countries together to share ideas, perspectives and inspiration. So much brain power in one place, all in one amazing city.

And just like that! The RideKC Streetcar now serves Berkley Riverfront Park.

It’s been an amazing ride to create the RideKC Streetcar name and brand identity that launched in 2016 and continue collaborating on the evolution of the visual identity and wayfinding as the system has grown.

Congratulations to the KC Streetcar team, partners and the entire KC community on this milestone. We’ve watched this brand grow up, thrive over time and become a part of the fabric of our city. This next extension is a reminder of what thoughtful public infrastructure, long-term vision and really committed and tenacious people can accomplish together.

If we’ve said it once, we’ve said it a million times: A brand identity is wayyyyy more than a logo. It’s a “kit of parts” or “system” of iconography, typography, colors, photography, illustration, patterns and voice that is developed from a clear strategy and works together to create a consistent and engaging presence across everything your brand touches. Lots of work? Yes. Is the ROI worth it? Absolutely.
