Yesterday, ’s Alison Schwartz and Carolyn Krieger had the pleasure of working with NASA astronaut, Jeanette J. Epps, PhD, the first Black female astronaut serving on the crew of the International Space Station in 2021, and they were struck by how ‘down to earth’ she is! Dr. Epps ‘touched down’ at FOX 2 Detroit to chat with Jay Towers before heading to the annual Women of Vision fundraiser for CKC client, NCJW/Michigan, where she mesmerized attendees with accounts of her adventures in space.

It’s certainly not good news that a recent report shows Detroit has the lowest credit scores out of more than 100 US cities, but it is good news that client Gesher Human Services is teaming up with Huntington Bank to help metro Detroiters with credit scores of 600 or lower. Gesher’s Financial Education Manager Laltsha Cunningham joined WDIV’s Nick Monacelli and Fox 2’s Ronia Shamona to discuss why credit scores are so important, and how to sign up for a free four-week virtual program that will award participants who complete it with $750 to reduce their debt. Publicists are professional storytellers. We find the news, the angles, the ‘stories’ that showcase the good work of our clients, and the impact and role their businesses and organizations have in the community. CKC Agency’s brand has been built on authenticity. We understand that what truly makes an authentic narrative is the way in which it touches and resonates with an audience.

We typically think that a narrative is composed of sentences and paragraphs, but sometimes the best stories don’t require a single written or spoken word. That is the narrative that Detroiters…and the world… collectively experienced on Saturday afternoon. No words were necessary when a precious daughter burst onto the field at Comerica Park and ran as fast as her feet could carry her to the pitcher’s mound where she hugged her father, Detroit Tigers Justin Verlander, as if she’d never let him go. It was a moment so authentic, so real, raw, and beautiful, that the emotions felt by Justin Verlander were felt by all of us witnessing it. The story that unfolded before our eyes resonated so deeply because it was about our shared humanity. The pure moments we saw and felt should serve as a reminder that underneath all the noise, chaos, and disagreements bombarding us, pure love is what truly connects us. There’s no better story than that.

Turns out, there is crying in baseball. And today, we are grateful for that.

Love it! The Detroit News, MSN, and Yahoo today featured a traditional desk and chair that were completely reimagined into a modern, punk pop art Marie Antoinette-themed masterpiece by Detroit artist Lisa Sheldon! Not only did former HGTV star Hilary Farr select it as “Best in Show” in the 2nd Annual The Furniture Bank of Metro Detroit Furniture Flip Challenge based on its unique combination of whimsy, social commentary, over the top design, and beautiful ex*****on, it is now graces President Carolyn Krieger’s office and is her new desk, perfectly complementing Carolyn’s own creative approach on behalf of our clients! She was the high bidder, winning it in the nonprofit’s benefit auction.
