Osyka Veterans Park is gearing up for its 2026 Fall Fest, and vendor applications are now open!

The festival will take place Saturday, October 3, 2026, from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. along Railroad Avenue in Osyka, Mississippi. The community is invited out for a full day of shopping, food, local vendors, and fall fun!

Vendor Booth Fees:
• No Electric – $25
• 110 Volt Electric – $35
• 220 Volt Electric – $45

Completed applications and payments may be mailed to Osyka Veteran’s Park, P.O. Box 1, Osyka, MS 39657 or emailed to [email protected]. Vendors may also pay via Venmo at .

🔥 BURN BAN EFFECT 🔥

Due to the extremely dry conditions, Kentwood Fire Department is asking everyone to please refrain from any open burning at this time.

Tangipahoa Parish is now under a burn ban.

With conditions this dry, even a small fire can quickly become uncontrollable and spread to nearby property, structures, or wooded areas.

Please use extra caution and help us protect our community. One spark is all it takes.

Qualifying has officially closed for the Town of Kentwood’s November 3, 2026 election, setting the stage for several contested races for municipal office.

Three candidates have qualified for Mayor, two for Chief of Police, two for Constable of Justice of the Peace Ward 1, and ten candidates have entered the race for Town Council.

Kentwood is a town built on rich traditions, hardworking families, and a history worth preserving. Thanks to the dedication of Katie Van Drell, coordinator of the Friends of Kentwood History project, that history is being documented and protected for future generations.

Although Katie now lives across the country, her roots remain firmly planted in Kentwood. A proud Kentwood native, she has undertaken the ambitious task of preserving the town’s history by digitizing one of the few known copies of All Roads Lead to Kentwood, a book published in 1993 to commemorate Kentwood’s 100th anniversary.

The rare book, inherited from her grandparents, Hazel and James Allen, documents the town’s first century. Katie is not only preserving the original work but also researching and writing an updated section that will chronicle the past 30 years of Kentwood’s history. Her goal is to self-publish a new edition that bridges the town’s past with its present.

“One of the biggest challenges has been finding reliable historical records,” Katie explains. “Much of Kentwood’s history lives in family photographs, newspaper clippings, and the memories of those who experienced it. This project is an opportunity to preserve those stories before they’re lost.”

The Friends of Kentwood History project is also calling on the community for help. Residents, former residents, and anyone with ties to Kentwood are encouraged to contribute by sharing:

Historic photographs, Newspaper clippings, Family stories and memories, Information about long-standing businesses and organizations, Church, school, and civic history, or Significant local events and milestones.

Every story, photograph, and memory helps preserve Kentwood’s legacy and ensures future generations will have a deeper understanding of the community that shaped so many lives.
