Struggling with no shows? Here's a great solution:

There are a lot of ways to cut down on no shows, but there's one that is both effective and saves you time trying to remind everyone manually.

Calendly is a great (very popular) app that connects with your calendar and sends automated reminders via text or email to the people you have appointments set with. A lot of people don't mean to miss their appointments and simply just forget so it's really important to have some way of reminding them.

The app is just $10 per month and it's also a great way to keep your calendar organized.

šŸ—»Wouldn’t it be nice if your service sold itself? The closest we can get is: having an offer that your target audience would have a really difficult time saying no to. Here's how to make one:

The best way to do this is by first, understanding the most important needs and biggest pain points your target market has, and use that information to form your offer to make your service or product meet all of those requirements.

Basically, include things that you know are most valuable to your target market while communicating that your service doesn’t include certain things that they typically are afraid of or object to when thinking about getting that type of product or service (like any hassles or drawbacks typically associated with that product or service). The more things you offer that your target market needs, and the less things in your offer that they don’t want, the better your product will sell (as long as you are communicating all of these selling points well).

One of the best ways to turn leads into clients for home improvement businesses:

Possible the biggest goals for new, and even established home improvement business is keeping a full calendar of jobs. It might seem like some businesses are always booked up while others in the same area, offering a very similar or even higher quality service struggle to get new clients.

One of the most important factors in getting more jobs per month is how fast you are responding to people reaching out to your business. If someone sees your business and tries to get in touch with you, even waiting longer than an hour reduces your chance of converting that lead into a customer.

Making your response time to leads a priority is a great and important way to improve your conversions as a company. There are many additional steps to take into consideration as well. Follow Altitude Reach for more job acquisition tips.

šŸ”ļøHow to overcome procrastinating on important tasks that we don’t want to do:

When we are facing something that feels daunting, new, or difficult/ time consuming that we know we should do, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed and our instinct is to put it off or just not do it at all. Obviously this doesn’t get us anywhere so here’s a great way to overcome that urge to procrastinate on it:

Figure out what the first step is and make a deal with yourself to do it for only 5 minutes. You’ll find it’s way less intimidating or painful to approach it this way and often you will feel good to keep going for another 5 minutes and eventually you’ll likely get it into a rhythm with it. Acknowledging that the hardest part is starting and using this tool to help get over that initial hump improves your productivity and makes it easier to tackle these important ā€˜to do’s’

šŸ—»Is your organic social media growth super slow or non-existent? There’s a reason for that. Meta (Facebook and Instagram) only puts your organic content in front of about 1-3% of your followers on average because they want you to spend money on advertising. It’s a bit brutal, but it’s the game we’re in so we might as well play it right.
The best way to get leads for your business from social media is through advertising on the platforms. Facebook and Instagram have an extremely powerful advertising platform that even lets you target specific types of people that you want your ads to be seen by, and it uses machine learning to better identify the type of people that are likely to buy your service over time.
Advertising properly on these platforms is super effective when you know how to use them- I recommend either taking a course or two or hiring a specialist in the space.

"The rarest of human qualities is consistency." -Jeremy Bentham

Not only is it rare, it is possibly the most important key to success in business. There are certain activities that directly increase your revenue as a business owner. Some examples are making cold calls to general contractors for jobs, posting on social media, following up with potential clients X times a week ...etc. These and other "primary activities" are vital for businesses, especially if the business doesn't have a full pipeline of jobs currently (and still necessary even when a business does).

Identify what your primary activities are (things that directly increase your number of jobs per month) and then set a specific number of cold calls (for example) to do every single weekday at a specific time.

The reason consistency is so important- If we just do these things when we feel like it, our results are drastically worse than if we just set the time and quantity and stick to it. Obviously if you're only doing 2 days worth of a primary activity per week vs. a full weeks worth of it, the results from it, especially over a long time horizon are going to be way worse. There are always excuses for why we don't do these things, but making them a priority and sticking to that is key.

Bottom line, identify the primary activities that will directly increase your jobs per month and do your predetermined number of them each business day, regardless of whether you feel like it or not.

Making a website for your business can be intimidating, especially if it's your first time. Luckily, there are a ton of great, easy to use tools that empower anyone with a computer to make their own website quickly and easily. These are called no-code website builders. Here are a few tips to keep in mind when creating your website:

1. Before you make your website, look at your competitors' websites. Find the ones that look good and use them as inspiration when you make your own. Don't copy, but study them to understand the general structure and get some ideas you think would work well for your site.

2. Branding is really important when it comes to your website. Make sure you stay consistent with the colors, the fonts and other features on each page of your website so each area looks like it's all part of the same website. Additionally, if you are an established company, make sure your website matches the colors, themes and general feel of your brand.

3. If your business is relatively new and you just want a website to add some credibility, it's ok to keep it pretty basic. Later on if you want to spend the money to hire a web designer who specializes in SEO, it can be a great way to make your website more visible and look top notch, but it's ok to have a basic website to start out.

Having a website might not seem like a huge deal when it comes to blue collar businesses, but it can make a huge difference to certain prospects when looking for help with their home. They can add credibility and visibility for your business so it is well worth it.

The first few months of starting a business can be the most stressful. You have to overcome multiple learning curves and issues you didn't even know could pop up and it can be disheartening and exhausting at times (not to mention time consuming).

The most important thing you can do as a business owner (especially in the early stages) is staying consistent. Aka, identify the most important things you need to do daily and stick to it- especially when you don't feel like it and even when you have a good excuse. Burnout is a real thing so be sure to set realistic and sustainable goals to stay consistent with (and they may need some adjusting at first), but be sure to stick with them.

šŸ—»There are a ton of easy to use digital tools that home remodel business owners can use to increase the quality of their posts. Here is a short list of my favorites:

Canva: Canva is an online photo editor that has tons of templates you can choose from to make your posts look professional. You can adjust/ edit the photos themselves and get suggestions to them in a way that looks appealing to social media users.

ChatGPT: This is an obvious one, but I highly recommend you try it because it can take an idea you have for a post and write it all out for you in an appealing format. There are many more uses for social media, but this is one of the most powerful ones.

Pexels: This is a royalty free photo browser that gives you access to thousands of stock image photos you can use for social media posts.

All of these can be great tools for your business when you go to make your next social media posts.

šŸ—» Many home renovation businesses rely only on word of mouth for new jobs. This is an effective option, but it can be unreliable and involve a lot of waiting between projects if it’s the only method a company uses. Here are 3 additional ways your business can get new clients:

āœ… Running local events: Putting on an event for your community is a great way to get exposure for your company and it makes you look good, especially if it’s for a good cause. It could be anything ranging from a food drive to a concert.

āœ… Posting on social media: Having a presence on social media can be powerful and important for home renovation businesses. It makes your business more visible when people search for home renovation companies in your area, can attract new potential customers, and builds brand loyalty with the people that follow you (which makes them more likely to use your company in the future).

āœ… Running ads on social media: Possibly the best way to get new customers for home improvement businesses is running ads on Facebook and Instagram. It allows you to put your offer directly in front of people in your area who are likely to want your service. It can be very effective; just make sure you take the time to learn the software and general advertising principles beforehand.

Follow Altitude Reach if you are interested in learning more about running social media ads. If you don't have time to learn the ads software and general social media advertising principles, or if you just want it done by a professional, we would be happy to help.
