Love nature? Want to inspire people to care for the Earth through engaging education and outdoor experiences? And maybe sneak in a game at Neyland Stadium or a concert at Thompson-Boling Arena on the weekend?

Then you might want to check out this Executive Director opportunity with Ijams Nature Center.

Ijams Nature Center is hiring its next Chief Executive Officer.

This is a rare opportunity to lead one of our nation’s most beloved conservation and education organizations at a moment of real strength and momentum. With an exceptional team, a committed Board, and a clear vision for the future, Ijams is well-positioned for continued growth and impact.

After nearly a decade as President & CEO, Amber Parker will be stepping down on August 14, 2026, marking the beginning of a new chapter for both her and Ijams.

Ijams today is stronger than ever.
With an incredible team, a passionate community, and a bold vision for the future, the organization is thriving and ready for what comes next.

And now, we’re looking for the next leader to guide that future.

This is more than a job. It's an opportunity to lead a place that connects people to nature, inspires conservation, and brings a community together in powerful ways.

If you know someone who is ready to lead with vision, heart, and purpose, we’d love to connect.

Annual report season has officially rolled in, and today we’re throwing it back to the 2022 Gratitude Report for St. Mary’s Health Wagon.

Inspired by the mobile care model they’re known for, the report was designed to feel like a well-worn medical file, traveling alongside caregivers as they support patients across Southwest Virginia. The report shared stories of impact and offered heartfelt thanks to the supporters who make that care possible.

The report supported their work, raising $132,189 from individuals, proving that clear storytelling and thoughtful design can help a cause be seen and supported.

Our local shelter is closed—there’s just no more room.

If you can foster, adopt, donate, or even share their posts, please do.

Bob Barker reminded us for 28 years, y’all 🐾: “Help control the pet population—have your pets spayed or neutered.”

Don’t let Bob and the animals down! 😊♥️🐶🐱

Our Mission is to shelter, care for, and rehome adoptable animals.

We love celebrating good things happening in our community—especially when they make it more inclusive for everyone.

Congratulations to our friends at Summit Leadership and Trinity Grace Farm on their upcoming ribbon cutting.

Trinity Grace Farm is a special gathering place where individuals with disabilities—visible and invisible—can experience the beauty of the outdoors with their families and friends. It's also a space where caregivers can find community, support, and encouragement, and it serves as a place to raise awareness of needs and resources in our region.

This dedicated programming space is offered at no cost to local organizations that serve individuals with disabilities, like Brother's Keeper, Jeremiah School, Jeremiah Café, Crumley House, Friends, and Goodwill Industries.

Come out and enjoy lunch, explore the property, and take a UTV tour of the trails!
