The Bible says everyone in the New Testament was baptized using Jesus’ Name:
Matthew 28:19 is the common verse for baptism: “baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:”
So what is the NAME of the Father??? And what is the NAME of the Holy Ghost???
As a Baptist, I this, even though it didn’t make sense, and understanding that the name of the Son is referring to Jesus.
New Testament verses on baptism:
Peter preached: “Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the NAME of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins,” (Acts 2:38).
Philip in Samaria “preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God, and the NAME of Jesus Christ, they were baptized,”
“…they were baptized in the NAME of the Lord Jesus.” (Acts 2: 12,16)
Peter: “…he commanded them to be baptized in the NAME of the Lord.” (Acts 10:48)
Ananias said to Paul: “…be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the NAME of the Lord.” (Acts 22:16)
Paul said: “John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus. When they heard this, they were baptized “in the NAME of the Lord Jesus.” (Acts 19:4-5)
Ephesians 4:4-6 says: “… one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and IN you all.”
Colossians 2:6-14 “…received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye IN HIM:” (see verse 8 – in HIM) (verse 9 – in HIM) (verse 10 – in HIM) “Buried with HIM in baptism (verse 12) (verse 13 – with HIM)
[Acts 2:41 says about 3,000 soles were baptized that day
Acts 4:4 Peter preaching to about five thousand men]
I have chosen to believe what the Bible says, rather than men.
