Note: Although we've edited several of Elora's later books, we had not met her when her debut came out so we were not editors on this novel. Where The Wildflowers Lay and The River's Deception are two more historical fiction novels from her that we were fortunate to be editors on. I DO think rules are important in many cases and that kids should learn to color in the lines, however, in many cases they shouldn’t have to be made to feel they need to adhere every time to do it “right.”

Always drove me crazy how some grown ups would really get on their kids about what colors things SHOULD be or how their kid’s work COULD have been better if they didn’t scribble and so on.

It’s perfectly fine to teach a child one way and then let them explore outside those boundaries.

And just look! They’ll grow up to be 40 and coloring and neglecting responsibilities 🤪
