The world lost a legend today, but we find comfort knowing Dolly is home and resting in heaven.
Earlier this year, our team at Draft was given the opportunity to help rebrand East Tennessee Children’s Hospital alongside French West Vaughan and announce its new chapter as Dolly Parton Children’s Hospital. We were honored to play a small part in something that will bless our community for generations.
I had the privilege of directing Dolly for the announcement. Before we filmed, she held my hand, asked my name and where I was from (she was happy to hear of our East Tennessee roots), and took the time to make everyone on set feel special and appreciated. After we wrapped and before this photo, she hollered, “Get on over here, Mr. Director Man!”
Dolly was the ultimate professional. She came prepared and took a sincere interest in making sure everything we captured spoke to the heart of the audience. But what we will remember most is the way she treated people—with kindness, humility and grace.
In a world that feels divided in so many ways, God gave Dolly a remarkable gift for connection. She bridged divides and was genuinely loved by all. She used the gifts He gave her to bring joy, hope and care to millions—and she never forgot the people or the place she came from.
It was the honor of a lifetime for our team to create alongside her and the Dolly Children’s team. We thank God for her life, her faith and the legacy of generosity she leaves behind.
And, as we’re sure everyone would agree, we will always love Dolly.
