Different week. New pictures. Same story…

The crew at JC Gury Signs & Decals is absolutely CRUSHING IT! 💪🇺🇸

When we made the “Big Move” into our new facility, we had a plan:
✅ Improve workflow
✅ Increase production capacity
✅ Modernize our process
✅ Reduce lead times for our customers

The results have exceeded even our expectations.

Our production times are currently about one-third of what they were before the move. That is a HUGE improvement — especially for a true commercial screen printing operation where every order is custom manufactured.

No shortcuts.
No pulling signs off a shelf.
No outsourcing.

Some jobs are moving through production so quickly they are finished before I even get a chance to see them! 😂

🎬 BEHIND THE SCENES AT JC GURY — STEP 5: PREPARING THE SCREEN FOR PRINTING

The screen has been coated, exposed, and washed out… so we’re ready to print, right?

Not quite! 😎

Before the ink starts flowing, there’s another important step — blocking out the screen.

Because we are a commercial screen printer, we often expose multiple jobs onto one screen to improve efficiency and reduce waste.

Before production begins, we temporarily block the areas we are not printing. This keeps the ink exactly where it belongs and ensures only the correct sign or decal is produced.

Small details make a BIG difference. 💪

This is the part of screen printing most people never see — the craftsmanship behind the finished product.

The screen has been coated, exposed under high-intensity light, and washed out under low pressure to create the print area.

Are we ready to print?

Not quite! 😎

This next step is something most people never see — blocking out the screen.

At JC Gury Signs & Decals, we often expose multiple jobs onto one screen. This improves efficiency, reduces waste, and helps us maximize our production process.

However, we may not be printing every job on that screen at the same time. Before printing begins, we temporarily block off the areas of the screen we are not using. This prevents ink from passing through those sections and ensures only the correct design is printed.

It seems like a small detail, but screen printing is all about the details.

Every color.
Every screen.
Every setup.
Every job.

There are a lot of steps before you ever see the finished sign or decal — and those steps are exactly why commercial screen printing continues to produce one of the most durable outdoor products available.

🎬 BEHIND THE SCENES AT JC GURY — THE SCREEN PRINTING PROCESS

Screen printing is not a push-button process. It requires multiple steps, specialized equipment, experience, and attention to detail — but the end result is a product built for long-term outdoor durability. 💪☀️

Today’s step #3: “Shooting the Screen”

Before we can print a single sign, every color requires its own screen. The screen is coated with a photosensitive emulsion and then exposed to high-intensity light.

During this process, the light hardens the exposed areas of the emulsion. After exposure, the screen is carefully washed out with low-pressure water, removing the areas that were not exposed.

Those open areas become the print area — allowing ink to pass through the screen and onto the sign material during production.

It’s just one step in a much larger process, but it’s one of the reasons our screen-printed, Mylar-laminated signs have earned their reputation for durability.
