We are proud to share a historic milestone — S Harris Communications has officially acquired the San Diego Monitor Newspaper and Business Journal, one of California’s most respected and long-standing Black-owned publications.
Founded in 1986 by visionary publisher Willie Morrow, the Monitor has served as a trusted source of information, empowerment, and truth for underrepresented communities for nearly four decades.
Under the leadership of Shane Harris, President and CEO of S Harris Communications, the Monitor enters a new era of truth-driven, community-centered journalism — dedicated to honest, fair, and balanced storytelling that reflects the whole truth and empowers the people it serves.

Through this acquisition, we aim to honor the legacy of Willie Morrow and Publisher Cheryl Morrow, while expanding the Monitor’s digital presence, investigative reporting, and coverage of business, civic affairs, and social impact across San Diego and beyond.
This is more than a media acquisition — it’s a movement toward a more informed, united, and empowered community.
