Congratulations to Lafayette Regional Airport on record-breaking passenger traffic for the year. This is a huge milestone for Lafayette and surrounding communities in Acadiana.

For the second straight year, LFT has broken its all-time record for passengers. With December holiday air travel still to be counted, 543,656 passengers have flown LFT so far in 2025, breaking last year’s record of 532,811.

📣 We are thrilled to announce the establishment of the Larry E. Sides/BORSF Endowed Professorship in Communication, made possible by the generous donation of distinguished alumnus Mr. Larry Sides.

🎓 A proud graduate of UL Lafayette, Mr. Sides earned the first Master of Science degree in Communication awarded by the university in 1975. He is the founder and Chairman of SIDES & Associates, a nationally recognized public relations and marketing firm, and has been a leader in both the communications industry and the Lafayette community for decades.

👏 The inaugural recipient of this professorship is Dr. Lauren Auverset van Gerwen, whose dedication to teaching, research, and advancing the field of communication embodies the spirit of excellence this professorship represents.

Dr. Auverset shared: “I am deeply honored to receive the Larry E. Sides/BORSF Endowed Professorship in Communication. This support will significantly advance my research and teaching, allowing me to explore new ideas and foster collaboration. 18 years ago. Louisiana Department of Hospitals asked Louisiana State Police for a helicopter to fly SIDES over New Orleans to capture a series of photos that would be used by state and federal disaster management partners. This image was used a number of times.

Congratulations to our Dee Stanley for being named president of SIDES & Associates.

Dee will lead our agency as the second person to hold the position in the over 45 years SIDES has served as a major Louisiana advertising, public relations and project management firm representing local, state and national clients and governmental agencies.

Larry Sides will remain active in his capacity as chairman of the board of SIDES.

Our client, Lafayette Regional Airport (LFT), continues to solidify its position as a first-line airport in Louisiana for summer travel. LFT has maintained a competitive advantage offering daily flights to major domestic destinations with connecting service to points around the globe. The cost of flights out of Lafayette is now comparable to international airports such as New Orleans and Houston!

This year might just be the year vacations go international.

SIDES & Associates (SIDES) is pleased to welcome Mark Wiltz to its team as Client Relations Specialist. With over four years of experience in public policy, strategic planning and campaign management, Wiltz brings impressive client-relations skills to the agency.

Prior to joining SIDES, Wiltz worked as a legislative assistant in the Louisiana State Senate and as an aide to United States Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. He also served as an advocacy project manager at Majority Strategies, a strategic marketing and campaign firm that provides consultation to over 180 sitting and former U.S. congressmen, including two speakers of the house.

Wiltz is a native of Youngsville, and he attended Ovey Comeaux High School in Lafayette. He graduated from Nicholls State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science and was recognized as the Outstanding Student in Political Science Citizenship. Wiltz is an avid marathon runner, amateur chef, and traveler.

"I am eager to join the team at SIDES," said Wiltz. "SIDES has proven time and time again to be the best at what they do, and I am excited to work alongside such a talented group of professionals. So many of my colleagues have left Louisiana to expand their careers. I’m so excited to do so right here at home."
