I determined my career path by the age of 6, designing greeting cards and forwarding them to executives at Hallmark Cards. Though none were sent to publication at that time, it did not deter me from my dreams. I continued studying and refining my craft. I graduated from high school as a member of the National Art Honors Society. Then attended San Diego State University, majoring in Art with an emp

hasis in Graphic Design. Upon graduation, I found myself in the Midwest, beginning my professional career at Midwest Graphics, designing apparel graphics for college bookstores nationwide. From there, I moved into publishing where I learned the harsh realities of timelines, late night press checks and managing a creative team. Next on my creative journey was the exciting, yet competitive world of advertising. I earned the title of Art Director at MMGY Global, designing print ads for major brands in the hospitality industry. Continually searching for new creative outlets, I started a side business, How Inviting, Inc. designing wedding invitations, baby announcements, and party invitations. Working word-of-mouth, How Inviting soon took on a life of it’s own when it was featured on NBC’s Today Show series, “Today Throws a Wedding” in 2003. Viewers voted my invitation the audience favorite, over my impressive competition, well-known stationers Cranes and William Arthur, ironically enough, a Hallmark Cards owned company. After juggling a growing small business and a career in advertising, I decided it was time for a change. I moved out west, landing in Orange County, California, where I took on an exciting position at Cookie Lee, responsible for developing an in-house Art Department from the ground up. With changes in ownership, came the opportunity for a corporate rebrand. ViVi jewelry was established and I had the privilege of creating the brand image from start to finish. These experiences have brought me to a new phase in my career with the development of Allyson Liu, Marketing + Creative.
