Does a massage count as a "wellness service" if it is delivered by a predator?
In Part 2 of my Substack series, I break down how the luxury spa industry uses performative PR—like rebranding a 6-month regulatory suspension for professional misconduct as a "brief hiatus"—to cover up massive operational failures.
The industry is currently trapped in a model of "functional luxury". Operators are obsessed with measuring amenities, fit & finish, and anticipated service, but they completely fail to measure a guest’s "felt sense of safety".
