Meet our Cancer Exercise Specialist!

“My name is Shaye Stubbs! I am a certified personal trainer and the only cancer exercise specialist in SWLA.

I, myself, am a cancer survivor. My cancer diagnosis in 2019, changed my career path. I felt a constant calling to work with other cancer survivors in this area. In 2023, I finally gave in and followed that calling. It’s truly been THE BEST and most fulfilling decision!

My other specialties include mobility, post-rehabilitation, corrective exercise, and muscle building. Many of our clients begin training with me after completing physical therapy.

It’s an absolute blessing to be a part of someone’s health journey and quite literally help them rebuild their body.

If there’s one thing I want people to know, it’s this:
You are NEVER alone in your health journey. I’m there with you when you feel like you are in a dark place, starting over or simply don’t know what to do. We’re in it together!

Fun Facts About Me:

• I’m a lifetime learner! I love reading research papers for fun.
• I grew up playing sports and stopped after tearing my hip labrum not once, but twice!
• My hobbies outside of the gym are archery, reading, hiking, piano, and diamond art.
• I went to college for wildlife and had several opportunities to band birds throughout my internship.
• My love language is lifting heavy weights, then topping off with some sushi right after.
• I am forever a fantasy book girlie. ✨”

This foundation is the only nonprofit in the area that services ALL cancer types. Their mission is to improve the quality of life for cancer patients and survivors through exercise & movement by providing custom training programs without the stress of finances.

Meet our owner!

“My name is Lauren Harper! I am a NASM certified personal trainer and owner of Lake Charles’ newest gym, VITAL MVMNT Strength and Wellness.

Cultivating a space that is equipped with certified professionals and accepting of all fitness levels is a dream come true!

Growing up, I didn’t have an understanding of what a “healthy and strong body” meant. And I most certainly didn’t have the confidence to enter a gym. While undergoing my own health transformation, I fell in love with the idea of becoming strong. (That was 12 years ago) That idea stands true today. The only difference… I’m 70 pounds lighter, confidently stronger, and am blessed with the opportunity to share that love and knowledge with people who have the same struggles I did.

I am married to my biggest supporter, and am blessed with our two precious kids.
If I’m not in the gym, you can likely find me at home - BIG “homebody” here.

Over the years, I’ve developed the classic love/hate relationship with running. So much so that I’ve run 2 full distance marathons and countless half-marathons.

My love of Tex-Mex is REAL - not to be outshined by my loathe of cooking. I consider meal prepping an actual chore -necessary- but most definitely a chore.

If there’s one thing you take away from me, it’s this:
Being healthy isn’t reflected in how you look - it’s reflected in how you FEEL - both physically and mentally. The work starts internally.

We have been given one life… and you are worth experiencing it in your healthiest and strongest state.
