"The and the Department of Consumer Affairs’ (DOI-CEU) announced enforcement action today against two unlicensed cannabis retailers in Southern California that were selling illegal v**e cartridges.⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣

On Wednesday, September 11, 2019, DOI-CEU served a search warrant on “Made In Cali”, an unlicensed cannabis retailer located at 6212 Santa Monica Blvd. in Los Angeles. The search warrant resulted in the seizure of nearly $2 MILLION in cannabis products. The Los Angeles Police Department assisted DOI-CEU in the serving of this search warrant.⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣

On Thursday, September 12, 2019, DOI-CEU served a separate search warrant on “Garden of Faith”, an unlicensed cannabis retailer located at 24400 Muirlands Blvd. in Lake Forest, CA. The search warrant resulted in the seizure of over $840,000 in cannabis products. The Orange County Sheriff’s Department assisted DOI-CEU in the serving of this search warrant.⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣

These two search warrants were served as a direct result of the complaints received by the Bureau detailing sales of illegal v**e cartridges. ⁣⁣⁣

The value of cannabis seized from the two unlicensed operators totaled over $2.8 MILLION.⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣

"California’s black market for cannabis is at least three times the size of its regulated w**d industry, according to an audit made public Wednesday, the latest illustration of the state’s continued struggle to tame a cannabis economy that has long operated in legal limbo.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
The audit, conducted by the United Cannabis Business Assn., found approximately 2,835 unlicensed dispensaries and delivery services operating in California. By comparison, only 873 cannabis sellers in the state are licensed, according to the Bureau of Cannabis Control.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
The figures are the latest sign of California’s rocky rollout of its legal marketplace, which promised better regulations and control beginning in 2018. Legitimate ma*****na businesses have repeatedly criticized state leaders and law enforcement for failing to curb unlicensed dispensaries and delivery services, which sell cannabis at a much lower price by skirting state and municipal cannabis taxes.⁣⁣

Earlier this year, an industry-backed financial audit projected that roughly $8.7 billion will be spent on unregulated cannabis products in California this year, compared with just $3.1 billion spent on cannabis sold by legal businesses."⁣⁣
