Florida's State Flower - Orange Blossom

Florida is the largest producer of oranges in the United States, and the scent of countless blooming orange blossoms fills the air in parts of central and southern Florida each spring. The orange tree is an evergreen plant that can reach 20-30 feet in height and thrives in full sun and sandy soil. It thrives in Florida because of its climate and usually abundant rainfall.
The tree produces sweet, fragrant, white orange flowers in spring, consisting of five waxy petals. A few months after blooming, the orange tree bears fruit, often called sweet or navel oranges.
The arrival of the orange blossoms symbolizes a reason for Floridians to celebrate. In the small town of Davie, north of Miami, flower lovers celebrate the arrival of the Florida flower through orange blossoms. A three-day rodeo and musical extravaganza celebrates Florida's agricultural history.
