A huge THANK YOU to all the hardworking leaders in Orion Township, Michigan, City of Auburn Hills, City of Rochester, Michigan - Government, City of Rochester Hills- Government and the workers with Great Lakes Water Authority for getting our the water main break repaired so efficiently. Even more, THANK YOU to everyone in our community, for banding together to help each other in this emergency. Let's show our businesses some and help them recover-- go out to lunch, shop our boutiques, and show them our support!

To our Lake Orion and Orion Township community —

Today’s water main break emergency is more than just an inconvenience. For many families, workers, students, restaurants, small businesses, healthcare providers, and local organizations, this situation is creating real uncertainty and hardship.

With reports indicating repairs and restoration efforts could take 10–14 days or longer, the impact on our community will be severe. Schools are closing, businesses are being forced to suspend operations, employees are losing work hours, and many residents are facing major disruptions to daily life.

Our hearts are with every resident, employee, business owner, teacher, student, and first responder navigating this emergency right now.

But if there is one thing Orion has always proven, it’s this: our community shows up for one another.

We encourage everyone to support local businesses however possible during this difficult time. Check on neighbors. Share resources. Offer rides, supplies, or assistance to those who may need help. Small acts of support will matter tremendously in the days ahead.

Read this honest and heartfelt post from a great Lake Orion small business, Boutique Chic. Now more than ever, we need to support our local small businesses in our communities.

Today is one of those days where my heart feels a little… conflicted. 🩷/💔
On one hand, it’s absolutely beautiful outside. The kind of day that makes you smile, throw the doors open, and feel so grateful to be here in our little Downtown Lake Orion community. ☀️
But on the other hand… my heart is heavy.
This week alone, I’ve seen multiple boutiques—women-owned, passion-filled, community-rooted businesses—announce they’re closing their doors. One of them just minutes from us. And if you’ve never owned a small business, it’s hard to fully understand what that really means.
It’s not just a store closing.
It’s someone’s dream.
Someone’s livelihood.
Someone who poured their time, energy, savings, and heart into something they believed in… gone.
And that loss doesn’t just affect them—it ripples through the entire community.
I’m incredibly blessed to be connected with so many boutique owners across the country and right here in Oakland County. We cheer each other on, support one another, collaborate, and celebrate the wins together. So when one of us hurts… we all feel it.
And then there are the quieter moments… the ones people don’t realize we hear.
Comments like, “I’ve seen something like that on Amazon for less.”
I’ll be honest—that one stings.
Not just because of the price comparison… but because it misses the bigger picture.
So many of the pieces in our boutique are thoughtfully sourced, often handmade, and created by brands with purpose—many of them women-owned, many giving back, many supporting artisans and survivors. These aren’t mass-produced items sitting in a warehouse somewhere. And when you do see something “similar” online, it’s often a knockoff—not the real story, not the real impact.
When you choose to shop small, you’re choosing so much more than just an item.
You’re choosing to support a dream.
You’re choosing to keep a storefront lit on Main Street.
You’re choosing to invest in your own community.
I don’t share this for sympathy—truly. I share it because I want to be real with you. Because your support matters more than you may ever realize.
And on the flip side of all of this… I am endlessly grateful for each and every one of you who walks through our doors, shares our posts, tells a friend, or chooses to shop with intention. You are the reason we’re still here. 🤍
So today, I’m holding both things at once—gratitude and heartache—and choosing to keep showing up.
