The UPS Store: Shipping, Printing, and Business Support Under One Roof
The UPS Store 3585 is more than a shipping center. It is a long-standing community hub built on nearly three decades of service, owned and operated by a family-run team deeply connected to the people they serve.
Kimberly Boyd, the operations manager, co-runs the store alongside Kristhal Portugal and a longtime ownership team led by Jaimie Ward, who has been part of the business since it opened. “It started off as Mail Boxes Etc., and then was bought out by The UPS Store,” Kimberly explained. “The business has been owned by the same family for the entire time it has been open.”
That history spans 28 years, including employees who have stayed for decades. Kristhal has been there 18 years. “I’ve been here for 10 years, and I’ve worked at other places. This has been my favorite job, hands down,” Eric (another employee) shared, reflecting the company's strong employee longevity.
What surprises many customers, Kimberly noted, is the wide range of services offered. “We offer notary services, shredding services, faxing, stamps, and any type of print you can think of,” she said. The store also provides shipping, packing materials, and a large retail selection of boxes and supplies.
Beyond standard services, The UPS Store offers advanced printing capabilities. With production and wide-format printers, the team can produce blueprints, enlarged schematics, photo prints, and even canvas work. One customer uses the store to enlarge tile mosaic templates, while another brings in small maps that are scaled up so a child can study more easily. “He is getting an A in the class because we can do this,” Kimberly said.
The store also provides design services, helping customers create business cards, flyers, postcards, and even logos. “If you come to us with an ask, we will be honest with you, but nine times out of ten we are going to bend over backwards to meet it,” she said.
Mailboxes remain a major offering, giving residents and businesses a secure street address for receiving mail and packages. “It really is a one stop shop for your business,” Kimberly said.
Community connection is central to the store’s identity. Staff members know regular customers by name, and relationships often go beyond transactions. “We had a customer call from the hospital just to say his surgery went okay,” she shared.
The store also partners with local schools, theaters, dance companies, and small businesses, offering discounts and support for community projects. Unique services like Amazon returns, cable equipment returns, and guaranteed shipping options help make it a daily resource for residents.
“We try to be very accommodating and resourceful,” Kimberly said. “At the end of the day, we just want to take care of people.”
