I helped Coach Waselk and Coach E. Peterson of our LPA Football Family spray paint the school logo at mid-field in prep for the varsity home opener.

It was a fun and unique sign application. We used a big stensel to outline and then filled in the remaining areas.

By the way, the Raiders were convincing in a 28-14 victory over the WCA Knights as they tore up the newly painted logo!

Here's my first lettering job this year. It's for the Cormorant Kiddie Land. The owner purchased all the Detroit Lakes Kiddie Land rides so it was a walk down memory lane.

Now that I've settled into my teaching career I hope to take on more sign jobs in the summer.

Enjoy life, DB

Hi folks, my sign work has been slow, to no, these past few summers as I've taken on my teaching career, but here's a very small job I completed re-doing barber shop posts for Lakes Barber in Lake Park.

Hi folks. The sign kit has been silent so far this season. To be honest, I'm enjoying my first summer as a contracted teacher and I have not been out drumming up lettering jobs. If you need a project call Howard Elijah at Howard Signs and he will take care of you. I do have plans on making a new church sign for my friends at Whitehorse Ministry in South Dakota, but untill then you'll find me fishing, travelling, lakeside, and two-wheel adventuring!
Take care and thanks for your friendship.

This has been a unique summer. It's the first time in many, many, years I have not gotten my brushes wet for a sign job. But on the positive side, I am launching a new English teaching career. I will have to paint up some classroom signs so I am not skunked this season!

Between prepping for my new teaching profession I completed a deck job and now I'm doing some high inside work. No signs yet this year. I'm anticipating a slow lettering season with the business shutdowns we are coming out of.
Take care. DB

Well folks it's been a crazy spring. I finished my college coursework, completed my student teaching requirements, signed a contract as the secondary English teacher at NCE in Twin Valley Mn, and graduated with a Communication Arts and Literature degree from Minnesota State University Moorhead. I have a lot of curriculum prep to do for this fall but hopefully I can get a few sign jobs in as well. Thanks for all your support.
God bless you all and take care. DB

The Brush & The Palette

Hi folks, thanks for stopping by our Bakke Signs & Lettering page. I started my sign career as a young man in 1985 by attending the two-year Sign Lettering & Design program at the Detroit Lakes, Mn. Area Vocational & Technical Institute. During those two years I learned the art of brush lettering, good sign design, and the nimble sport of Hacky-Sack.

After graduating, I moved to Dickinson North Dakota with my bride Dori and worked for Scenic Sign Company where I performed layout, lettering, vinyl application, and spray booth responsibilities. From there, we moved to Dallas Tx. and attended Christ for the Nations Bible Institute. A blessing came along when our daughter was born and I was fortunate to be employed at a family sign shop called Trinity Graphics handling a variety of tasks including layout, vinyl application, lettering, and sign installation around the Dallas area.

We moved back to Minnesota with a pastoral degree in 1990, were blessed with the arrival of our son, and pursued rural ministry. I have maintained my sign trade as garage guy while performing various pastoral and missions opportunities.

God Bless Ya, David Bakke
