Fascinating podcast with Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg on the company’s latest AI developments.

One of the main reasons we purchased the Meta smart glasses was to experience voice search firsthand and study how Meta AI finds, interprets, and delivers answers in real-world situations.

At ilocal SEO, we want to understand how these emerging platforms discover businesses, select sources, and recommend local services. That means testing the technology ourselves so we can better prepare our clients for a future where people increasingly ask their glasses, phones, cars, and AI assistants where to go and who to hire.

Search is no longer limited to typing keywords into Google. The next major shift is already happening through voice, wearable technology, and AI-generated answers.

A diner doesn’t call a restaurant to ask if it’s good anymore. They open Google or ChatGPT, run a couple of searches, and decide before they ever dial the phone.

Here’s what those searches actually surface: your Google Business Profile, your Yelp page, your website, and every review left on any of them. If your restaurant rebranded at some point, even years ago, the old name can still be sitting on a directory somewhere, and Google reads that as two different businesses instead of one.

How Device Search Works in the Real World

The end-to-end query flow on Meta Ray-Ban Display relies on a blend of spatial coordinates, voice AI, and visual recognition:

Voice Query: The wearer prompts “Hey Meta, find restaurants near me” or “Hey Meta, navigate me to [destination].”

Audio Navigation: The glasses deliver turn-by-turn audio walking directions.

Companion App Mapping: A live companion map runs inside the Meta AI app on the connected phone during the walk.

Distance Handoffs: If a chosen destination is beyond walking distance, the glasses trigger a push notification to the user’s phone with driving directions.

Multimodal Visual Confirmation: Using the built-in 12MP ultra-wide camera, wearers can look directly at a venue and ask, “Hey Meta, what’s this place?”

Someone just told their glasses to find a . Not their phone, their "glasses".

Meta Ray-Ban Display glasses, and now the standard screen-free Ray-Ban Meta lineup too, answer "find restaurants near me" as a spoken command, then walk the person there with audio directions. No unlocking a phone, no scrolling, no second page of results.

Here's the part that matters if you own a local business: that walking route comes from Overture Maps and OpenStreetMap data, not from your Google Business Profile. A business can hold the top spot on Google Maps and still be missing, mis-located, or wrong in the data these glasses actually read.

We built a five-slide breakdown of what we're checking for South Florida businesses as this rolls out. Free audit at iLocalSEO.com or (561) 281-6777.

Before anyone reads your website, they read your Google Business Profile.

Google ranks local results on relevance, distance, and prominence. Two of the three come from your profile, not your homepage.

Five slides on what actually moves Maps rankings for a Palm Beach County service business, and the one field almost nobody revisits after signup.

If you want to know where you stand, we score your profile against the two competitors ranking above you. Free, and the report is yours to keep.

If a tree falls in the woods and nobody hears it, did it make a sound?

Here's the 2026 version: if a business publishes content and nobody sees it, does it even exist?

AI has made content creation nearly free. Anyone can generate a blog post, a service page, or a month of social captions in an afternoon. Most businesses are doing exactly that right now.

But creation was never the hard part. Visibility is.

Content that never gets found never builds trust. It never gets cited by Google or ChatGPT. It never drives a phone call. The cost of producing it was low, but the return is zero.

The businesses winning local search in 2026 aren't the ones publishing the most. They're the ones whose content is structured to be found, verified, and quoted, by search engines and AI answer engines alike.

Creation is cheap now. Getting seen is the work.

Which roofing directories are best for SEO / Local Search / AI Visibility?

Your customers are asking ChatGPT for recommendations tonight.

Here's the part most business owners don't know: ChatGPT isn't reading your Google Business Profile to answer them.

When someone asks ChatGPT for a roofer, a dentist, or a restaurant in your city, the first database it checks is Foursquare.

Yes, the old check-in app. OpenAI signed a data partnership with Foursquare in December 2024, and independent SEO research estimates 60-70% of ChatGPT's local results pull straight from Foursquare's listings. Most owners have never even opened it.

As of this summer, Yelp is now a licensed partner too. ChatGPT surfaces Yelp reviews, photos, and business info directly, and can even book reservations through it.

And here's a twist from a Whitespark study of 153 local queries across 9 US cities: in the Bing ecosystem that feeds ChatGPT's web search, Facebook was the leading review source in 8 of 9 cities. Not Google.

The catch-up takes one afternoon:

- Claim your Foursquare listing and fill in every field (name, category, services, hours, address)
- Make sure Yelp is claimed, accurate, and collecting reviews
- Claim Bing Places and match your name, address, and phone exactly
- Keep your Facebook reviews alive

Google Business Profile still matters. But it's no longer the whole game. The businesses fixing this now are the ones ChatGPT will be naming while their competitors wonder where the calls went.

Foursquare shifted from a consumer app to POI infrastructure, and OpenAI's January 2026 partnership made it a direct data source for ChatGPT's local answers. Here's how to use it.
