The Reason Behind the Stickers ❤️🏈

I wanted to share the story behind these stickers because they mean so much more than just a number and a saying.

My grandsons lost their grandfather about a week ago. Although some may say they weren’t extremely close to him, their dad made sure the boys went to see him while he was in the hospital. During that visit, my grandsons were able to talk to their Grandpa D, and he told them that when he got out of the hospital, he was going to come watch them play football.

And if you know their grandpa and their dad, you know football runs in their veins! 🏈❤️

This is the first year my grandsons are playing football, and they got to know the meaning behind #65 and one of their grandpa’s favorite sayings that he told EVERYONE:

“Are you a LEADER or a FOLLOWER?”
IYKYK! ❤️

Sadly, Grandpa D passed away before he ever got the chance to watch his grandsons play.

My grandson Andrew took it especially hard. He told his parents and his coaches that he was going to work hard “for his Grandpa D.” 🥹❤️

This past weekend, both boys played in their very first football scrimmage, and they absolutely AMAZED us! 🏈🔥 For first-time players, they did an incredible job!

That’s when I decided to create these stickers for them to put on their helmets. ❤️

Every time they look at that #65 and those words, I hope they remember their Grandpa D, the conversations they shared, the promise he made to come watch them play, and the lesson he always taught:

Be a LEADER, never a follower.

Grandpa D may not be here on the sidelines physically, but I have no doubt he’ll be watching every single play from above. ❤️🏈

Play hard. Play proud. Play for Grandpa D.
