We’re excited to share our official logo redesign for the Mid-Michigan Cooperative Invasive Species Management Area (MMCISMA)!

The final direction is born and inspired from the original design. Essentially turning the fidelity k**b up on what was already there. The county lines form the base grid of the logo and the incorporated iconography speaks to Michigan and the native Michigan habitats the MMCISMA is fighting to protect. The result is a modern and eye-catching logo that will help spread awareness and recognition for their cause.

Shoutout to Mid-Michigan Cooperative Invasive Species Management Area for all that you do to protect our native Michigan landscapes and thank you for choosing Ciesa Design for your creative needs!

We know it’s easy to get lost in the sauce and procrastinate (as creatives do) but this is your reminder to get your submissions in for the 2026 Never Saw the Light of Day Awards. The awards will take place on Tuesday, September 15th, with a submission deadline of September 1st, which is approaching quickly! With 9 awards categories, there’s certainly a place for your art to be brought back from the dead.

If you have any finished artwork that never saw the light of day, submit your work (btw, it’s only $5) by Tuesday, September 1st.

The awards show at Urban Beat on September 15th will include a cash bar, appetizers, and live audience voting. We can’t wait to see those submissions!

We were beyond excited to build a brand new identity for the Old Town Commercial Association 30 year anniversary party! Designing the ultimate event down to every detail including logos, invites, posters, napkins and coasters — we loved turning this milestone celebration into a visual reality.

Our hearts go out to Potter Park Zoo as they handle the loss of Kota. Mourning a true icon of the Potter Park Zoo, but taking peace in knowing that the team at Potter Park was there to help make the final transition a gentle one.

Bringing it local with our Parks and Rec series. This next park is Bear’s top pick, the Potter Park Zoo!

Starting as 58 acres of wooded land that James and Sarah Potter donated in 1910, the Potter Park Zoo and 120+ acres of Potter Park today are a Lansing mainstay. An over 100 year history and hundreds of animals make this park a necessary visit to call oneself a true Lansingite.

Featuring images from our 2011, 2016, and 2017 visits, the ring-tailed lemurs from a recent visit, as well as showing off imagery we have of Jaali the male black rhino born in Potter Park on Christmas eve of 2019. Jaali is now happily thriving at the Living Desert's new Rhino Savanna in California after being transported cross-country in October 2021 with a female Black Rhino, Nia.

Special thank you to Potter Park Zoo for partnering with us through the years and giving us opportunities like the one we had to see and celebrate Jaali before he moved!
