We are excited about the Grand Opening of the Fish Ladder Music Park with the ultimate 80’s dance party! 🎶
Starfarm along with DJ Dav, will be bringing the ultimate throwback night to the Lansing Riverfront on May 29th, . We're talking big hits, neon lights, dancing by the river, and a one-of-a-kind setting in the heart of Old Town Lansing.

This concert is free to the public courtesy of the Community Foundation

What happens when a brand disregards their legacy framework? You might alienate your established audience, you may attract a different consumer base, or you might make the Ferrari Luce.

The newly released 4-door all-electric Ferrari is not one that you would recognize on the street. It is a complete departure from the original vision of Ferrari and raises the question: when will the search for modern design escape minimalist simplicity and how does a brand voice get diluted by this diminishing design style?

🎨The East Lansing Art Festival starts tomorrow! We are excited to see all the art and artists this year and wish everyone has a fun and creative weekend 🖌️

Mark your calendars! The 63rd Annual East Lansing Art Festival (ELAF) is just a little more than TWO WEEKS away.

This year’s ELAF will feature nearly 200 artists, live performances from a range of performers including magic, indigenous dancing, African drumming and music as well as local food vendors and the ever-popular Artist demonstration area. The event will be held along Albert Avenue from Grove to Bailey streets.

ELAF will take place from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday, May 16, and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday, May 17.

Lauren’s newest poster finds for the office? Advertising for a long-standing Michigan based paper mill designed by the legendary Charles S. Anderson!

These vintage posters designs by Charles Anderson were created on behalf of the French Paper Company — an over 150 year old paper mill based in Niles, Michigan — to advertise an array of paper options available to clients at the time.

Potentially designed and produced as early as 1990, these posters are printed with lithography and thermography. Where thermography uses resinous powder to create raised, relief-style design on a poster after the ink is applied with lithography.

The posters shown were produced under Wieden+Kennedy (W+K) as part of official Nike cycling campaigns. These copies that Lauren collected were potentially part of a show or display that W+K put on celebrating their history with Nike, among other clients. Along with the posters was a write-up that reflected on the origins of the Nike swoosh and W+K’s development and exploration of the Nike brand.

The Nike swoosh icon originated from the work of design student Carolyn Davidson in 1971. She was hired by Nike founder Phil Knight to produce the “stripe” for $35. (Don’t worry, she was fairly compensated later during Nike’s success.) Digital sources claim she was inspired by wings to create the check-mark shaped logo, indicating speed and calling back to the Nike namesake origins in Nike, the Greek goddess of victory. However, our newly acquired record from an unknown author claims that she was inspired by the blurred image of a jogger. What do you think inspired the swoosh? 💭🤔

While Lauren threatened to put these posters up on the walls in the office it might be a tough fit since about every wall in here has art on it already!

It is with a heavy heart we write this latest goose mama update. Mama is nowhere to be found, papa too, and the goslings did not make it out of the nest — one of their eggs did not even hatch.

We do not mourn our loss alone, as there was a bouquet of flowers gently laid on the bridge support where the mama had been brooding. It was comforting to know there were other people out there, also keeping watch on the goose family.

What we had hoped would be a story of overcoming and nature prevailing among the concrete jungle has unfortunately turned into a reminder of the pitiless indifference of nature. We hope our goose pair is safe and well and that they can find a more suitable spot to nest next year.
