Honoring the Legacy: Three Generations of Black Excellence ✨
As we close out our Black History Month campaign, I am filled with immense pride thinking about the foundation laid before me.
My maternal great-grandfather, McKinley Hairston, was a farmer who owned over 200 acres of land — a powerful example of vision, discipline, and stewardship.
My paternal grandfather, Samuel Arrington Sr., was a remarkable mechanic and business owner who ran his own car lot, paving the way for our family’s legacy of hard work and determination.
My father, Samuel Arrington, a brilliant Computer Technician, carried that entrepreneurial spirit forward through his technology business. He taught me the importance of innovation, dedication, and problem-solving — and helped spark my love for computers, which led me to earn my Computer Science degree.
For the past 18 years, I’ve been blessed to walk in their footsteps as a web and graphic designer, building my own business. Today, alongside my amazing husband, I’m proud to continue that legacy as business partners with Above Standard Consulting. Together, we have also launched House of Dreams Creative Arts, creating spaces that inspire creativity, confidence, and community impact.
This journey is a testament to perseverance, creativity, faith, and the courage to build something that lasts. I pray this legacy continues to inspire and empower future generations to dream boldly and walk confidently in their purpose.
Here’s to honoring our past, celebrating our present, and building a future filled with impact and possibility.
🤎 Legacy lives on.
