🌮🌮🌮🌮🌮 SAMMY’S MOVIE REVIEW — FACING EL CHAPO
Facing El Chapo
Based on a true story, Facing El Chapo puts two ordinary Mexican police officers in an absolutely extraordinary situation: they pull over a stolen vehicle and discover that their passenger is none other than Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán.
And honestly, I’m giving this one FIVE TACOS — based on the acting alone. 🌮🌮🌮🌮🌮
What really makes this movie work for me is the authenticity. These are Mexican actors playing Mexican characters, and the vernacular, slang, mannerisms and lingo feel completely natural. Nothing feels overly Hollywood or forced.
But the best part is the fear and hesitation. You can actually see these guys processing what is happening. They’re not action-movie superheroes who suddenly become fearless badasses. They’re regular guys who realize, “Holy sh… we have El Chapo.” 😂
Do you do your job and risk your life and your family, or do you take the money and walk away?
The tension comes from watching them wrestle with that decision, and the actors do an amazing job communicating that fear without overplaying it. The director deserves a lot of credit too. The movie understands that sometimes what a character doesn’t say is more powerful than what they do say.
Because this is based on a true story, knowing that these events actually happened makes every uncomfortable pause, every look and every hesitation hit even harder.
Bottom line:
This isn’t just a movie about capturing El Chapo. It’s about what happens when two regular people suddenly find themselves staring down one of the most dangerous men in the world—and have to decide how much they’re willing to risk to do the right thing.
