If you know the Bay Area, you know one thing for certain
the weather rarely follows the rules.
Late August through fall can bring some of our warmest, most beautiful days of the year. Yet this season, we may also see a weather pattern influenced by El Niño. So, instead of a predictable transition from summer to fall, you may be dressing for sunshine, fog, warmth, wind, and rain, all in the same week. Sometimes, all in the same day.
That’s why the smartest wardrobe this season isn't simply a fall wardrobe. It’s a wardrobe that’s ready for anything.
The Art of Transitional DressingThere’s no need to pack away your warm-weather wardrobe just yet.
For women: a lightweight dress, your jeans, a fine-gauge sweater, or spring/summer jacket can continue to work beautifully well into your fall wardrobe this year. Add a structured bag, or extra knit layer when the temperature calls for it. A wardrobe essential can be a cashmere shawl that can be stowed in your handbag for a chilly evening.
For men: the same principle applies. A beautifully tailored pant can move effortlessly from a warm afternoon to a cooler evening by adding a lightweight merino sweater or unstructured blazer. A crisp Oxford shirt, elevated polo, fine-gauge knit, or linen-cotton shirt can provide polish without feeling overly seasonal.
And when rain enters the forecast, a beautifully cut trench coat, technical outerwear jacket, leather shoe or stylish leather sneaker or desert boot can keep the look refined without sacrificing practicality
The goal isn't to dress heavily. It's to dress intelligently. Think in layers, not seasons
Luxury isn't simply about owning beautiful things. It's about having the right things and knowing how to put them together effortlessly. That is the real luxury; versatility without compromise.
